Australian state border restrictions

QF definitely have 2 bookable flights LST - ADL on Saturday 31/7.
However I first looked at this about 3 days ago and then ~ 4pm today and fares a little over $100.Just checked now and cheapest fare $254.
Aren’t they via MEL?
I wasn’t aware they were doing direct yet.
Pretty good if they are

At least prior to the NSW and VIC lockdowns domestic air travel I think was higher than pre-pandemic and with international travel off the table (apart from to NZ), QF was looking at opening additional domestic routes.

Appears they have now disappeared and flights are now via MEL.Leave LST at the same times but other MELtimes gone.Get into ADL after most of the BNE flights now.
So Plan C didn't last long.

The changing regulations do make booking flights a real cough shoot. The most convenient flights for me getting home is actually VA LST-MEL-MCY.JQ also does that but leaves LST 30 minutes later and arrives into MCY 40 minutes later but is $100 dearer.
Now I can transit MEL but will there still be a flight MEL - MCY.I doubt it.

So Plan B was to fly LST - BNE.But normally the VA flight leaves LST at 0610 and the JQ flight arrives into BNE just before midnight.Neither appeal to me.
So plan C fly via ADL as QF have 2 direct LST-ADL flights on the day I am leaving. Both connect to JQ flights to either BNE or MCY.The earlier one connects with a QF flight to BNE.And I would get lounge access. :) But after today will QLD be just as kind with SA as they have been with NSW.

But I decided to take another look at VA and on the day I am going home they have a second direct LST - BNE flight at midday. So fortunately Plan B still in play.
Sounds like your next move could be to fly HBA-PER, PER-BNE. 😉

I did think of that briefly.I don't personally pay for my flights so thought of the extra points haul. But then probably my agent would baulk at the price.

Didn’t realise QF flew LST/ADL…
I've never managed it direct. Last year when SA were being difficult about MEL transit, I was driving to Hobart and going Jetstar direct to Adelaide.

I didn’t think they flew that route outside of footy special flights!

Maybe Anastasia will be banned from entering her own state as she’s in an international hotspot!! Ooops …Forgot footballers and politicians exempt in that order
If only .............

Victoria putting a hard border with minimal exemptions against NSW.

Only pre-approved authorised workers and minimal compassionate travellers. Rest are not able to enter.

I suspect Victoria will also hard border SA soon as well.

That might be the explanation and why 2 flights on a Saturday and why withdrawn just before a SA lockdown announced.
Just looked up the AFL original schedule and Hawthorn were due to play in Adelaide that weekend.Hawthorn plays some of it's home matches in Launceston so quite a few supporters here.
So likely you are on the ball -just don't touch it in Adelaide.

WA has changed SA to low risk, meaning 14 days self-isolation if entering WA from SA.

Who wants to speculate on my chances of going from Melbourne to Hamilton Island on 31 August?

16 August is the last day to cancel and get a full refund on the 20% deposit (and I have to get a credit from VA for the airfares).

Between 7-14 days before travel, loss of deposit.

Balance of payment due 7 days before travel...

Hamilton Island has a strange cancellation policy and distinguishes between whether the borders are open or closed at the time when final payment is made.
