Yeah, its probably easier to fly from east cost to Perth via SIN right now.
I was more meaning there are cheaper prices from Perth to overseas right now (wonder why...), so fly from East Coast to WA and then have a few hour connection to an international flight out of the country.

I've just seen there is a transit option on the G2G form and I'm tempted to apply for a transit G2G just to see what happens.

My boss just texted me to say we will be exercising a clause in our contract with WA Health which relied on Feb 5 which is going to cost them (well the WA tax payer) an absolute fortune and I’ve never been so happy to screw a customer over in my life!

WA Health were caught off guard with this announcement thats for sure. Sounds like another captains call to me….

Might join Perrottet's bill in the shredder :)

If WA remains closed I’d rather it’s rerouted through SIN providing the green ribbon/ transit area is gone.
The same policy from 22 Dec still stands...

Let's say QF scraps the DRW transit and goes to SIN. Under the current rules on the way over from Australia pax could access the lounge but on the way back they'd be stuck in a gate area. QF would also need to limit transit time in SIN to 60 mins or they'd have to work out some other agreement from the above. To be honest I'm surprised Australia hasn't been added to the SIN naughty list yet but regardless it makes a DRW transit look simple.

The DRW transit from a premium pax perspective is absolutely sub-par.
PER was not.

I found the transit fine to be honest. Very fast, small space so not a lot of dragging my stuff around, no security screening and a perfectly fine lounge for the 40 mins I was in there.

I never did it via Perth. What was so much better?

Not sure of cap but need to do 14 days quarantine for all international travellers. 7 days in a quarantine hotel and then 7 days at a suitable premises
I can handle 14 day iso.
Looking at options lets say one month from now this is looking as real possibility.
A bit pricey, but if you really keen to get into fortress WA manageable.

44.png I think its ok with SIN transit rules as not suppose to clear immigration, just check in online and only have 2 hr between flighs.

Qantas 'My Booking' page once again empty.

I'll be sure to welcome the refund of points and taxes back to my respective accounts around the time of my eighth booster dose.

You have to recognise that flight schedules will be changed following tonight's announcement to be on par with pre 5 February schedule. I doubt there are any direct flights from overseas to Perth.

Dumb question but is it ok to transit WA?

I see three possible scenarios
1. Other Domestic State to WA to Other Domestic State
2. Other Domestic State to WA to Overseas
3. Overseas to WA to Other Domestic State

Are any of the three possible, annoyingly timatic doesn't cover domestic borders 😂
There will be no problem leaving WA, but you will have to look closely at the rules for entering, even if just in transit.

EDIT: The rules have since been posted above. No problem with transit really.

Nope. Sorry for the waste of WA taxpayer money.
They have plenty. They keep reminding us of their surplus.

Will be very interesting to see the reaction from the international carriers tomorrow into Perth.

They don't, but its easy money (plus bonus cargo money) and it keeps pilots in use.
You misunderstand my point. At some point the pain of putting up with WA needs a response.

Alan grounded the airline a decade ago. It worked.

Mr McGowan said WA would reopen its borders on February 5 and the date was "locked in, barring an emergency."

But when pressed on what that emergency could look like, he said it was "difficult to define".

Good thing I don't own a business reliant on travel and movement. Though, I daresay bankruptcy isn't as difficult to define as Mr McGowan's emergency.
