Australian state border restrictions

Queensland entry pass Incorporating the Queensland Border Declaration Pass and the Queensland Travel Declaration

As is usual, Qld entry pass portal saying you can’t complete the new border declaration and get your pass until after the new system starts it seems.
A mess for a friend of mine trying to get the Brisbane to see her dying dad. It’s not bad enough that she’s had to wait this long but now has to sit up all night trying to get a pass.

lol does this even remotely reflect the experience in Victoria or NSW.

Remember our (Tas) CHO is one of the most conservative in the country. Only reason he hasn't gained the notoriety of others is that he hasn't had much 'material' (cases) to work with

Absolutely not. yet I am being told I will be looking after several covid cases even though asymptomatic cases will not be admitted to hospital. Mild cases will be admitted to a medi hotel and only if admissions to hospital are >12 will my ward be used for covid. I am pretty sure I am not going to be looking after any cases.

SA Health has gone even madder. I'm no longer QR checking in. Involuntarily put into a Med Hotel for 14 days simply because he shopped for some plants in Adelaide for 20 minutes. And they apparently send you an account to pay.

"When Shaun Ferguson was browsing the plants at a local nursery last Tuesday afternoon, he never thought it would land him in two weeks quarantine in a medi-hotel.

Key points:

  • Shaun Ferguson visited one of the locations later linked to a positive Omicron case
  • He says there was a lack of communication and clear direction from SA Health
  • He's concerned people will stop using QR-codes to check-in

That night he received the text message that no one wants to receive.

"At about 11.30 that night I got a text message from SA Health saying that I'd been to a potential exposure site for the Omicron strain," Mr Ferguson said.

As per the instructions, Mr Ferguson immediately got tested but what followed from then was a whirlwind of uncertainty.

An SA Health employee called him the next day and told him he could isolate at home with his husband and, that if he tested negative, he could be released out of isolation after seven days as he had been fully vaccinated.

"After five minutes [the employee] came back and said, 'I'm really sorry. I've given you some false information, because it's the Omicron variant they are not necessarily happy for you to be isolating at home with your husband and they are going to consider putting you in a medi-hotel'," Mr Ferguson said. If our (Tas) lot go anywhere near that after we reopen next week, I'm also not going to check-in.

I don’t check in anymore anywhere unless I absolutely have to.

In Sydney right now thankfully it’s not very strict and I’ve not had to once. In Brisbane I hadn’t checked in in weeks. I think it’s going to be harder to dodge in Melbourne though shortly!

My last QR check in was at Dan Murphys almost a week ago. I figure that's appropriate.

I think lots of people are checking in less, I know I am but I still get a bit wary because it will be my luck I get caught. SAPOL did a “raid” on several Northern suburbs supermarkets that I know about this weekend and dished out some fines, I don’t really want to give them a cent 🤣

I check the risk sites. If I’m there I’ll get tested and isolate. I’ve already done this during pizza gate. But be damned if I’ll be put into a med hotel because my accommodation is deemed not suitable. I’m wondering how they check the paper checkin though. I’ll blame old age if caught.

What a wonderful use of taxpayer resources

The takeaway from this is that "Living with Covid" is purely a slogan. The point of getting everyone vaccinated was that we wouldn't be fussing about how many people have it, only how many people require hospitalisation.
Until they let go of Covid Zero, it's only going to get madder!

Absolutely. There is no living with it strategy with the current CHO and a Premier hiding behind health. We learnt last night they’d locked a contact into a med hotel for 14 days. Now on FB they are wishing people merry Christmas. 🤷‍♀️

I think it will stop at 90% vaxxed.
We are up to nearly 100 cases and still have pretty much all freedom but the border situation isn’t ideal nor is the quarantine situation. Hoping to see some tweaks in the coming weeks to rectify the situation
