Deaths in Victoria today not as high as the published number. Some back dated data included today.

Covidlive has a revised NSW total cases for yesterday at 65479. Not seen an explanation. Too early for school RATS. Anyone know?

Edit: looks like it is an error-doesn"t seem to be reproduced anywhere else and inconsistent with number of tests.
The Billington graph looked odd first thing this morning but has since been normalised (he credits data from covidlive)

Having followed a lot of covidlive numbers, on the odd occasion they do pick up a wrong number and it doesn't get fixed for a short while - eg Vic had a low active count (like under 100k) for 2-3 days about a week ago, but they eventually fixed it.

For the number you are possibly talking about total "cases" in NSW (today 1,083,102 [+12k]; yesterday 1,070,269 [+65k]; day before 1,004,810 [+10k]). I've not seen a source where those numbers are published on NSW Health's Twitter or NSW Health daily media releases. I've not watched a press conference in a while so a missing source could be the press conference.

The net number has been pretty close to the announced new positives until the day before yesterday and now yesterday.

In case there is any doubt - number is 'fixed' (first time I noticed and I happen to look every couple of days since) - though the 26th is still a little anomalous (let's put it down to removal of some duplicates) - RAT+/RAT+ or RAT+/PCR+).

Tasmania today. 12+ now over 95% double dosed.
5-11 should pass 50% first dose today,
Booster should pass 40% today.

We were at an IGA this morning in Southern Perth and there were no obvious shortages on the shelves. The people in front of us in the checkout had a 24 pack of TP so it was available.
Today we had to do a big shop at our local Shopping Centre that has a Coles and Woollies (an ALDI is being added but a very, very slow fitout obviously not rushing in the current climate). Coles was about 80 - 85% stocked and Woollies about 85 -90%. Meat was at around 80% in both stores. Some TP and Flour available. Pasta seemed to have taken a bit of a hit. Some of the "own brand" goods were missing and cheese was low. The hardest hit seems to have been fresh eggs & yoghurt which is weird as a lot of it is locally produced.

We did our main shop at Coles today. There were some gaps, mainly incertain areas such as fresh pork, whereas last week it was chicken. But overall we would be at the 90% of stock. Not always the full range of alternatives, but had every item on our lists. So the issues around transport are having an effect, but not yet seeing any large sections empty. If the downward trend in cases continues then it should be less of a concern each day.

Probably could have happened a while ago.

Peak was 37 (less than 25% of ICU capacity) on 22/1. Hospital peak probably less than 10% (with+of) covid
Agree. Sinus surgery was booked in for 7 March because the wheels are slow to move in SA but very quick to stop. So that date works well.

It has been admitted that the nursing staff employed in the private hospitals were all seconded to work in the mass vaccination clinics, so not even about hospital space 🤫😒 The major centre in particular was not well used so they've decided to close it down.

Plus, there is the need for AFL players to have surgery before the season kicks in 😉

Glad to see we are removing the fear factor from our healthcare system and replacing it with rational thought as to the consequences of long delayed surgery.

I feel the fear factor is rapidly subsiding in all states (bar the one obvious outlier) which is a refreshing change.

Its so nice not leading every single conversation with Covid.....

Shops were busier today in Adelaide and noticed that mask wearing not quite as compliant. As for getting rid of the QR - freedom! But some people still want to QR check in. I will never understand why now. Sigh.

The other interesting story doing the rounds is where some surgical nurses are just sitting around and not able to be redeployed to other covid-related tasks. And its happening in multiple states that have paused elective due to covid hospital numbers.

Poor administration all around - sigh.

Well, our anaesthetist friend has been idle for over a month now. The surgeons? Their books keep piling up with bookings because people still need to be assessed for possible surgery, The worst outcome is for people who've already waited months/years in the public sector.

I think its the safety blanket of knowing when one is exposed.

I know a few HCW that were still QR checking in. Its become pointless one you go to a 4 hour, no mask standard.

I guess we wait until the next variant make thing different.

Well yes but since late December the follow-up questioning of Covid positive people has been non existent so there's no opportunity to unlock the areas that are hot spots through QR records. And in SA there is no history in everyone's app - just the latest check-in.

I think in other States they use a mobile number to unlock some covid exposure alerts - but I also read on threads here that NSW health don't even bother using the time (check-in/check-out) - just anyone one the same day!

Yes, that's the same in SA but then they stated it was up to Covid positive people to tell their close contacts themselves. And given a close contact is 15 minutes unmasked inside, well, it wouldn't take much to overwhelm the system.

I have no idea if we are still supposed to do QR here in Tas; signs are still up. I know they aren’t using them for contact tracing, so I’m not bothering except in medical places.

People are still doing masks in the open, which is not required. Me too, when I’m the city, darting between shops.

Was asked to show my vax status for the first time ever today - at a medical specialist.
