Would it really be that much of a disaster if Covid got into Qld
Hard to say.

Not a lot of places in the World (if any?) where Covid did not have a significant prior presence and where the population will be substantially vaccinated first before borders open.

Are there examples?

Would it really be that much of a disaster if Covid got into Qld? The vast majority of elderly are double vaxxed and those that aren't are probably non-vax or if immunocomprmised wold have a plan to deal with such a situation. If we don't have some spread here, the complacent ones don't have an incentive to get vaxxed. The deaths in NSW and Vic are mostly all nonvax so if you are double dosed there is nothing to be afraid of.
That's exactly my opinion re Tassie. There's been various comments about Tassie being un-vaxxed but this doesn't match my experience. My family are all double vaxxed, from grandad down to teenage daughter. Likewise pretty much everyone I meet in the course of business. I've encountered anti-vax conversations in SA and Queensland, but not in Tassie.
The significant thing about Tasmania is there is very much a divide. It's the reason why unemployment figures are always high but anyone who wants to work could saw themselves in half and still find work for both halves. I suspect the same divide may determine the end point for vaccination.

You are missing another major reason in Tassie, especially in the North West there is a major anti-vax community who are… mmm let’s be polite.. ‘extremely religious’ 😂… the Bible Belt…

More freedoms today for NSW, can go to the office without a mask, might actually go and check out the office of my latest employer and meet some colleagues face to face.

I'm not a fan of the recent colour scheme change i results, wonder if Dom is an eels fan? Good to see sub 300 cases and further declines in hospitlisations.

Hills 91.6%

Victoria changes quarantine rules for fully vaccinated people

If you're full vaccinated you will only be required to do seven day quarantine if you're a primary close contact from this Thursday.

If you're currently in quarantine and are fully vaccinated, you can end that on Thursday, too.

This doesn't apply if you're living in the same household as a positive case, however.

VIC: There were 69,825 tests processed yesterday in Victoria

There are 851 people currently in hospital with COVID-19, 155 are in ICU, 103 are on a ventilator.

And, 32,405 vaccines were administered in our state hubs.

Now, 89.2% of the population over 16 has had a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine; 66.5% have had a second dose.

Ballarat is now at 91.8% for a first dose and 68% for a second dose.

Small Business Minister Jaala Pulford is announcing new support to bolster businesses and to "breathe new life into local neighbourhoods".

VIC: New Outdoor Economy Package is to support businesses set up for street trading

There's also a $14.5 million COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Voucher Program to provide $2,000 grants to about 7,000 businesses, community organisations, not-for-profits and trader associations.

These entities have to spend at least $2,000 first on initiatives such as outdoor hospitality and entertainment to be eligible.

Twenty per cent of these vouchers will be allocated to regional Victoria.

And, a new $40 million COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund will provide cash to help councils transform outdoor areas, such as installing street furniture, landscaping, marquees, planter boxes and public art and entertainment.

The Outdoor Economy Package will provide $54.5 million to support businesses and other organisations in reopening.

Really? Tell us more. I’m a local and can honestly say I have no idea of what you’re talking about. But maybe the view is clearer from Queensland. 🤣

oh it sure is… it’s another world… if you know, you know. But getting off topic 🤪
It basically is one particular sect in NW Tasmania that opposes vaccination. They are particularly in the North West and it has more of their "meetings"than all but 4 other countries in the world.I made the mistake of advising a member to have the vaccine.

So glad to see the Tasmanian lockdown is finishing after their zero case scare 😂
Good also to see they are bringing in a couple of restrictions too, just in case, due to zero cases.
It’s just brilliant 🤪

Zero cases? o_O. Well, zero except for the actual positive case who after arriving from NSW was infectious in the community for a day - supermarket etc - and who was unco-operative to the authorities (to the point, apparently, of lying about his movements). Other than that, zero cases so far.

A three day lockdown, which note, actually ends after three days, wasn't too bad. The continued mask wearing order is a bit much, but given our CHO hasn't had the need to exercise his "advice" much over the past year, and its a pretty relaxed form of mask wearing (lots of exceptions), and was desperate to do something, I can live with it.

Gave the vax rates - already good - a bit of a boost too.

AFF gathering this weekend is ON. :)

Which is it?…

…..

Adventists, JW, Christian Science all promote the CovidVax

Scientology not sure - but the do promote face masking and Tom Cruise apparently leased a cruise ship so a movie production crew can isolate on it rather than mix with the population

The 3 Abrahamic religions all promote CovidVax
