This is the plan that allows Canberrans to go to the south coast. Andrew Barr would be lynched if he tried to stop that.
ACT plan from 15 October

Open – swimming pools for lessons only – max 25 swimmers

WTF? Who on earth comes up with this nonsense?

It is nice that QLD have been using Christmas freedoms as the justification for why they need to keep the border closed.

As it stands, there will be more freedom in NSW on December 1 than there is in QLD today (not saying they won't also release restrictions, but as the benchmark AP's been using, it's quite interesting).

Didn't the NSW Government announce regional travel at 70% double dose? So it has now recanted that policy in favour of 80%.......any explanation?
They've moved the goal on regional travel to the 80% DD marker, so as to give the regional areas a little more time to catch up. Some of that lag is hesitance in the regions, some regional areas are still bemoaning the temporary redirection of Pz supply to the hotspot LGAs, but it's quite possible Health and Gladys just didn't expect that we'd continue to accelerate in Greater Sydney as fast as we did, taking the state to 70% before the 11th Oct. I can't recall exactly, but my gut feel is that the 80% projection is now ahead of what the 70% projection was, at the time of the initial roadmap to freedom covid normal

Yes that's exactly what's happened. Having said that, CovidLive's LGA tracker shows that vaccination rates in Regional NSW are all over the place.

No one expected Sydney to go as fast as it has. Now time for everyone to catch up. It also will mean that Sydney 2nd doses will have higher efficacy before we start gallivanting about the regions.

Thanks. Regional NSW/Vic is an interesting aspect because 1 case could notionally cause more havoc and they are also covid zero viable/possible.

I hope they don’t move the goalposts again. Following Covid zero areas like NT (80% in each region) or Tas (90% of 12+) would be making life difficult ‘unnecessarily’.

Newcastle was quite vocal on this, HNE Health openly campaigned for keeping Sydneysiders out. We've had our record daily cases today (46) and the Newcastle LGA only just reached 70% single jabbed. There was the saga of our Pfizer being redirected to Sydney.

Covidlive says Newcastle LGA is at 75% and Lake Macquaire is at 79% (the LGAs that make up the majority of greater Newcastle, and most of the cases). The additional time to get to 80% will ensure the region is at 70% double jabbed.

I wonder however, if Newcastle can travel further into the regions? I think the current restrictions only specify Greater Sydney.

On QR codes - NSW Minister for Services has already said that once we have the high vaccination rates then QR codes would become a thing of the past.

Since NSW is designing the mandatory vaccination status to be part of the same system, that might also impliedly mean the end to trying to enforce mandatory vaccination on staff and customers.
