Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I have a feeling that the numbers in Sydney will maintain above 300 today with more regional exposures and Melbourne is slowly dropping.

I think it's time to go and get vaccinated. I have been "doing the right thing" and waiting for the most vulnerable to have time to get their shots done. My only risk factor is being over 50. Haven't been excited abut the long lines in the small number of V sites on my side of town, so interested with the BCEC vaccination super hub. Maybe taking the kids into town for a family day....
It's the right thing now for you to go get vaccinated. And get your friends to do the same. You youngies spread this thing. 😀

If you can access it watch the interview that ACT Chief Minister gave to ABC Breakfast. He really gave it to Gladys. Straight talking to some Canberrians too. Love the direct communication.

I'm still confused about why ACT thought it would fare any different to NSW regions. As harsh as it is to hear for Canberrans, if you are going to declare all of NSW a hotspot, it has to include ACT. It's functionally a region of NSW unless they implement a hard border.

The previous arguments about "we've been covid free for most of the pandemic" also applies to the NSW regions. Now it doesn't.

First death of the Newcastle outbreak.

He was vaccinated but under palliative care.

Edit - he was from the Edgeworth Aged Care facility.

Another record for NSW - 390.
And another death of a vaccinated person, again a 90s person who was in palliative care.
Also unvaccinated person in 40s.

Good jab numbers at 115k, about the only positive.

Pretty good news for Newcastle (other than the death), only 4 cases (and an additional case in Armadale which is in the same health district).

But with the long waits for testing and subsequent delayed contact tracing alerts, we shouldn't get too excited.

Interesting narrative, but I deal with many people in Canberra on a daily basis and there has been a "living on borrowed time" mentality throughout. No one was under any illusions that the sieve on the border would keep Delta out.
Except the ACT government when they lobbied other states to not declare it a hotspot.

From my conversations, a lot of people (including people on this forum) thought that dotted line on google maps would protect them.

25 cases in Dubbo.

And looks like WNSW is having the same issue as HNE in terms of case reporting.

Out of today's numbers, only 8 in Dubbo. The balance must have come after 8pm.

Seems to be a stable up trend now. About 100 a week. 500 this time next week?

Depends how many they detect.

Probably over 600....

NSW Premier noted 25
NSW Health representative said 8 to 8pm
I think it was the first or second question at the press conference
