I’m not fussed. Most of the big vaccine hubs have at one time or another been listed as casual contact places.

Melbourne researchers have shown that cheap, portable air cleaners are a practical strategy to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in hospitals and could potentially be considered for quarantine hotels and other health settings.​

Published in the journal Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, the study traced airflow and the movement of aerosolised particles around a COVID-19 ward at Royal Melbourne Hospital.​

​

The study found 99 per cent of aerosols could be cleared within 5½ minutes using just two small domestic air cleaners in a single patient room of a hospital ward.​

As air travelling out of the patient’s room carried far fewer aerosols, the risk of infection for staff in surrounding clinical areas would be reduced.​

The study was prompted by the high number of health staff who became infected at the hospital during Melbourne’s second wave in mid-2020.​

Yes it’s rather depressing.
You can have all the public health orders in the world but all it takes is one muppet who thinks it’s all a big joke.
I suspect in the days before Delta a lot of this stuff existed in multiple jurisdictions and flew under the radar.
But not now.
I just hope we can get enough of us vaccinated before Delta has a chance to spread and mutate here into something worse.
We are sitting ducks for that to happen.

So the police let them go on the basis they would do the right thing and return to western sydney. Why don't I receive the same treatment for traffic infringements.

Yup just one person and unfortunately there’s plenty more than one.

The government(s) had the people on side for a while but they took advantage of that good will doing sweet FA apart from tough border slamming/clocks/elections and just coasted for months.

Now they are losing that goodwill, every day resentment is growing, people paying less attention to rules (even if it’s just ‘slightly’ less attention) and Delta slips through the cracks.

The only thing that can save us is people panicking now and getting the vaccine.

Why penalise small business for our governments mess and stop supporting them?

I could give a rats about exposure sites. Markets get hit repeatedly because they are popular, so what.

SM market is so big and drafty / basically open air, it’s hardly an indoor tiny shop where delta is going to hang around and hit every single customer.

Not having a go, just desperately sorry for small business right now getting smashed by our collectively failing dumb governments

You too can help us by persuading everyone you know to get vaccinated. Go through your phone, your socials, your neighbours. Ask the question ‘Have you been able to get the vaccine yet’. Help them.

Every person who gets vaccinated will tell another 10, the snowball effect has a incredible ripple through the community.

If everyone on here did that we’d be flying (pun intended). Less talk more action

Well you can go tomorrow and spend with them Small business are dying it’s just awful. The government grants are a joke for most. It’s heartbreaking.

Feta is so much nicer than Delta but went and fixed that.

Actually the Sydney strain was released on Sydney most likely from the USA.Sydney is actually doing a lot better than them.
USA yesterday 132000 new cases and they are over 50% fully vaccinated with a lot more who have had covid hence some immunity.

I have a feeling that the numbers in Sydney will maintain above 300 today with more regional exposures and Melbourne is slowly dropping.

I think it's time to go and get vaccinated. I have been "doing the right thing" and waiting for the most vulnerable to have time to get their shots done. My only risk factor is being over 50. Haven't been excited abut the long lines in the small number of V sites on my side of town, so interested with the BCEC vaccination super hub. Maybe taking the kids into town for a family day....

We disagree on the fundamentals in this part of your reply. I don’t subscribe to a ‘two tier’ system where we have to discriminate against the elderly or vulnerable. They have paid taxes all their life and are entitled to use the roads, shops, parks, beaches, go out for a meal with their mates like the rest of us. That’s their right.

Conveniently locking away the vulnerable probably detracts from any incentives for everyone else to contain the virus.

But we currently do have a two-tier system.

We discriminate against Australians who are overseas or have families overseas.
They too have paid their taxes, but have no rights to visit their loved ones.

The son of a Sydney man who triggered a COVID-19 lockdown in Byron Bay has been charged with breaching NSW's public health orders.

52 year old Zoran Radovanovic was charged earlier this week after allegedly driving to the popular holiday destination from his Rose Bay home last month.

His 19 year old son has been charged with breaching restrictions and is due to appear in court in September.
