Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Good for you. Problem is, not everyone will (and it’s hard to blame them). You’ll never get 100% compliance. That’s why we have a police force and judicial system in normal times. Our current covid model can be undone by the single action of a single person, so I’m sure you can see the issue.
The chain (of protection) is only as strong as its weakest link and this chain is full of them.

ADF personnel have all been eligible to be vaccinated for some time now, including Reservists.
OK. Thanks. The reason that I asked is that all I had seen from the ADF was that they were eligible for free vax (no time frame, by the way). But we are all entitled to free vax anyway.

So just tell me which state has 100% compliance with the public Health orders.
QLD sure enough hasn't.The Bruce highway out of brisbane yesterday was enough to tell you that.
I have also worked in Tasmania and visted WA and neither of those had anywhere near 100% compliance.
Victoria certainly had plenty of evidence of non compliance in the past.
Maybe SA is different?I seem to remember a few idiots there though.

But even in the most rigorous of countries non compliance with health directives occur.Last month's outbreak in Nanjing.
Much of the focus is on the airport, where cleaners – who were cleaning planes that had arrived from overseas and domestic flights – contracted the virus and passed it on to colleagues and family.

The central commission for discipline inspection has publicly criticised the airport management, accusing it of negligence. In a statement on Thursday, the most senior enforcement body of the Chinese Communist party said the airport lacked supervision and had unprofessional management, and that epidemic prevention and control measures had not been properly implemented. It was highly critical of management for not separating staff and operations for international and domestic flights, and called for “deep reflection and rectification”.

Wouldn't want to be an airport worker in Nanjing.Plus they are going to test all 9.3 million residents of Nanjing.Good luck if you think that is going to happen anywhere in Australia.

The ones I have direct knowledge of have all been vaccinated.

And this is why Covid zero was a mythical dream.

Strangely most of Australia’s medications come from overseas. We don’t manufacture much. So unless you don’t want to get your next script for antibiotics, blood pressure, blood thinners etc, and refuse to allow Australians to return home, don’t want overseas essential workers to come here, well, that’s the reality.

Getting our meds from overseas would be quite possible with a hub in Singapore and everything flow in from there to say Darwin.

Either SQ crews could have flown SIN-DRW-SIN return same day without entering Australia, or Qantas could have flown DRW-SIN-DRW without entering Singapore.

Returning Aussies is a separate issue. We could have reduced the risk there by establishing Darwin as the quarantine hub and only allowing those on a one way ticket to come. No 'non-residents' making multiple trips. (Possible exemption for compassionate grounds such as imminent death of a family member.)

You have no issues being asked for ID and question about why you’re simply going about your day? Interesting. I recall a time in history when people were forced to show papers when they had the nerve to be out on the street. It’s why my ancestors fled to Australia.

But you’re right, a “public health order” justifies it. Governments will love these orders in the future.
Absolutely no issue at all. We are in a pandemic. And I have nothing to hide or be concerned about sharing with the police officer, who was not recording it down in anyway.

If you’re likening this to naz_ Germany, which it seems you are, then I really don’t have any words for it at all. Im actually speechless.

That’s your prerogative. Personally, I’m not comfortable with papers being demanded for having the nerve to go to the park.

It’s not right just because the government says it’s right. History is littered with examples.

But this is not one of those examples.

This is not like naz_ occupied Europe or another type of persecution or discrimination. These are rules applying to everyone, equally, in response to a globally declared pandemic that has played a part in the death of over four million people, affected millions more through the death of loved ones, and even more though the delay in essential services such as elective surgery and time spent waiting to get tested.

Sure. So where do we draw the line? Usually at this point of the year, we’d have 50,000 flu cases and hundreds of death. Both numbers are virtually zero. In 2023, we allow it go to back to normal? Why is that not a pandemic?

Meds is just one thing. Even in little old Adelaide we have six freight carriers lined up to berth at Port Adelaide and they are full of containers. WA has to deal with ore carriers. Australia's bubble was always going to burst.

Would the ADF members have been offered COVID vax for this role? I hope so. Or, are they not considered to be at risk?
I heard not, but I heard they would get the highest grade PPE......replying late, so others may have responded....same with NSW Police.

We had covid zero! But then it came in through overseas interactions (either returning passengers or flight crews)
You must know the only we we can have Covid zero is to stop all incoming.

If we were relying on NT as the only route home, then we would be bringing back only a fraction of the number of Aussies that we have.

Sky News Australia suspended from YouTube

By Angus Thompson

Sky News has been suspended from uploading content to YouTube for a week after the video and livestreaming platform claimed the media organisation breached its COVID-19 misinformation standards.

In a statement issued to Nine newspapers this afternoon, a Youtube spokesperson said the website had taken steps against Sky, including removing videos from the media outlet’s online channel and issuing a ‘strike’ against it, causing it to be temporarily suspended from uploading new content.

“We have clear and established COVID-19 medical misinformation policies based on local and global health authority guidance, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 misinformation that could cause real-world harm,” a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement.

“We apply our policies equally for everyone regardless of uploader, and in accordance with these policies and our long-standing strikes system, removed videos from and issued a strike to Sky News Australia’s channel.”

YouTube has not said what videos published by Sky it removed, but the platform doesn’t allow content medical misinformation about COVID-19 “that poses a serious risk of egregious harm in contradiction with local and global health authorities’ guidance about COVID-19 treatment, prevention, transmission, and social distancing.”

A person’s freedom stops right where it impinges on the freedom of others, that is how society works, why we have laws and why we cede absolute freedom for the benefits of living collectively.

Freedom is a negotiation.
So it’s ok for vaccine refusers to prevent me from seeing my family? To quote from Tool Time (appropriate name really) “I don’t think so Tim”.

the target cannot remain at 80% actual and must become 80% offered or even 100% offered if necessary, otherwise we are all going to be held at the mercy of a small % of the population. I feel angrier and more despairing than ever. Very recent research into vaccine hesitancy shows it currently at 21.5% of adult population. Almost 31% in QLD and around 28% Australia wide in those aged 18-44.

Not sure what would have breached it and it may/may not be something to do with vaccines (the top of this thread). From what I've seen the hosts there are pro vaccination and see vaccination as our way out of the mess we are in. They do have guests that appear on their opinion shows with a range of views not wanting to be an echo chamber where everyone agrees on practically everything. If you don't like that you can watch something else on a different channel.

ADF were in 1b so I’d expect they are already vaxxed. And as a former ADF myself, I can say with some certaint, they would have been voluntold to get the shot - not much room for free will with the military and vaccinations 😆

And probably shafted into the door-knocking/compliance gig. 🤔
