A few incorrect statements today especially that there is no evidence of vaccine safety in pregnancy. In fact there is a lot.both Israel and the USA using mRNA vaccines have shown no evidence of harm.the real world data in the UK and Canada has not come up with any problems with the AZ vaccine.
Here it would still be recommended that Pfizer is used as the great majority of pregnant women are under 40.
A local discussion that has this piece of evidence.

So no pregnant women admitted to hospital recently with covid has been fully vaccinated. Those who are admitted without a vaccine job have a 10% risk of being admitted to ICU.Basically another no brainer.get vaccinated.

Pregnant women have had many vaccinations for many years without major problems.

The Rubella vaccine is contraindicated in pregnancy. However most Australians are vaccinated for rubella.Anti vaxxers however are taking a gamble with their daughters and grandchildren's lives.
I'm very much non-medical but isn't it one of those basic things that a child collects many of their immunities from their mother? I know it's simplistic but if your body is born knowing Covid as an enemy, it's probably better prepared than most currently receiving jabs?

NSW Contact tracing is seriously and dangerously overwhelmed. Even more so it is acting in what can be described as an irresponsible manner.

..
Looking like the same “Gold Standard“ as applied the the women's swimming relay team?

Given that there is little to zero data yet on whether AZ or Pfizer has any impact on a pregnancy initiated after being being vaccinated, with a little more on pregnancies existing before being vaccinated - then I can quite understand the hesitancy especially if anyone mentions Thalidomide to them. It will only be in three or four years time that the question can be answered with any degree of certainty. Hopefully, it will be a non-issue.

CV can certainly cause more issues if it is widespread in the community but until June 16 that was not a consideration.

Personally, I feel extremely lucky (relieved) that this did not happen 20-25 years ago - I would not want that added concern. The relief felt after the birth of each child, and subsequently confirmed to be 100% healthy etc - cannot be described, I'll never know what winning lotto a few times in a row feels like but it may be something similar.
I had mine when Master TomCat was eight and twelve weeks old. Both times they asked if I was pregnant 😂

Bit of a flurry at work with can early text to say there was a close contact on our floor - deep cleaners had been in and then the close contact (not named and up the other end of the floor) came back negative. Turns out there was a batch of false positives from one pathology clinic which is now being investigated. So stand down, back to normal.

Mothers do pass on antibodies via the placenta and breastmilk. However these decline over the early months. The child has to "learn" its own immunity (whether by vaccine or illness). Pre-school and infants are a hotbed of immune learning

I'm guessing you were affected by this

ACT Health has confirmed 11 people initially tested positive to COVID-19 in the ACT on Wednesday, but said that 10 of them had since returned negative test results.

The test result for an 11th person, who is now isolating in New South Wales, is yet to be returned.

ACT Health said the results were recorded at a private pathology provider late on Wednesday afternoon, and the government then ordered urgent re-testing of those individuals.

"At this time, there are no positive cases of COVID-19 in the ACT and no exposure sites," an ACT Health spokesperson said.

"Should there be a positive case in the ACT, we will provide information and advice to the community as quickly as possible."

An interesting report here:

Many major spreader "events" have, upon investigation, turned out to be weaknesses in the government regulated "system".

So lynch whom?

Thank goodness we mostly get reports first.

It's spread too much, and without ultra hardcore lockdown, they will never get this under control. Sydney will be in permanent lockdown until we reach Scomo's Phase 2 when vaccination % reaches necessary level. This % should be known in next 2 weeks or so.
Grattan Institute suggested today that the headline % required is 80

I am extremely pro vaccine. But if pregnant and not in a high risk environment, eg SA, I would not have the vaccine until after birth. Risk versus benefit.

Very unhappy people in SA being forced into leaving their self isolate homes and into med hotels.

"A chef at an exposure site was forced into a medi-hotel, a step he called an over-reaction and a farce.
A chef who was forced into hotel quarantine after working at The Greek on Halifax has pleaded to be allowed to finish his isolation at home and branded the transfer of him to The Pullman an “absolute over-reaction”Joseph Vaccaro had already completed a week of home isolation when he was contacted by SA Health on Monday and told he would be forced into a medi-hotel. He worked in the kitchen on the night of July 17 when a person infected with Covid visited the restaurant."

Yes. Just needs some political backbone to implement, if necessary. It’s misuse of the ADF to be dragged into this, if it’s just holding the hand of police while they stand at the front door of someone’s house.
I wouldn’t describe it as ‘holding hands’. For their own safety, police or authorised officers doing compliance checks usually work in pairs. Allowing the police to team up with someone from the ADF is a good use of resources.

It’s not necessarily straight forward just to ‘appoint’ people. Special Constables in Victoria for example can be members the police force i. another jurisdiction. The appointment of other types of officers is usually underpinned by a set of SOPs requiring a minimum standard of training, which can take weeks or months to complete.

I’ve heard several conflicting reports about this. We know one of the families that was “forced” into quarantine from Tenafeate wines exposure and they were told that it was “strongly recommended“ that you enter HQ but that it couldn’t and wouldn’t be forced. This family happily entered HQ and several other families have been interviewed in local media and said likewise.
I will try and find the presser from the other day as I can’t remember if it was Marshall or Stevens who also said that it wasn’t enforced

The ADF members have no powers at all in this situation. Why is this? Clearly nothing more than a ‘holding hands’ situation. A misuse of ‘Aid to the Civil Power’.

Appointing persons as Special Constables is not exactly complicated, and they are not necessarily provided from another Police jurisdiction: Correctional Officers from any State, as an example. Some Security Officers could get a look-in.

Anyway, Special Constables may be appointed with limited powers (as necessary for the task) as decided by the appointing authority. They do not need to be authorised to use force, or carry weapons, for example.

There would be many individuals who could responsibly accompany Police Officers, to make up a pair, if that’s all that this is about.

Aren't all those working at Covid testing facilities classified as "Frontline health workers"? Or just those who are medically qualified as a physician or nurse?

From an article in the Age
”The acting Chief Health Officer confirmed earlier on Thursday that the man had not been vaccinated even though he had been eligible since February”

From my experience of drive through testing, there is absolutely minimal interaction with traffic controllers, it's outside, they're masked and typically signage has requested the driver to wear their mask by that point. I would've thought it's very low risk. But if he has been eligible since Feb that would mean he would've been included in that list of high risk workers.

Sure. But why would a family with kids who had been exposed and self isolating at home for a week, testing negative, then ask to be moved to a med hotel in a couple of rooms at best, and potentially be exposed there? And SA Health have stated they are unapologetic about doing this? I can understand where one person in the family was exposed and didn't want to put his family at risk but no way would an exposed family voluntarily move to one.

Im still convinced Covid is circulating around SE QLD, our testing is so low, we have the lowest vaccination rates in Australia. Just waiting for it to blow up….
I always wonder how many positive cases have no symptoms when tested and if they have an estimate on how many are not diagnosed still moving around the community.
