Just a bit of an anecdote from me based on my recent experiences.
I have driven through SYD from the airport to my house in the Hunter region and vice versa 4 times in the past 10 days.
The latest journey this morning from T3 ~ 10am was the most quiet I have ever seen those roads in Sydney. Marked difference between the first trip on 3rd July and today.

Of much greater concern is the frequency of which medical centres and chemists are featuring in exposure sites. This indicates that instead of going to get tested when symptoms arise, people are self medicating at chemists or going to a GP for treatment.

And we see this again today with "Three of the new cases are linked to Imedic Medical Centre in Fairfield."

Close contact sites features so many GPs and Pharmacies - Myhealth Fairfield, Fairfield Heights pharmac_, Fairfield Heights Primary Health GP, Guirguis Family Medical Practice, iMedic iCare Medical Centre (Fairfield), Belmore Medical Centre, Chemist Warehouse Punchbowl, Greenacre Medical Centre, Speed Medical Practice (Liverpool), Terry White Chemmart Revesby, Wetherill Park Medical Centre, My Health (Burwood), Strathfield Plaza Medical Practice.

If you are unwell, you should go and get tested and wait for result before going to a GP or Chemist.

I'm guessing a removalist may not even be subject to hard border restrictions

Given they are not reporting a breach, once has to assume he had a permit.

I will also bet it wont.

And suspect that lifting wont be a big bang, but staged by LGA and Fairfield LGA to be restricted the longest.

Of course other states may lock us out longer than we are locked down.

I hope so as I’d love to visit family but I can’t see this ending under 6-8 weeks at this stage.

I do wonder if they’re going to the doctor / chemist because they’re unwell, or just because it’s part of their normal routine.

However Fairfield is home to many of different ethnic origins.They have larger families with many living under 1 roof therefore sitting ducks for the delta variants.
As well there are GPs and Pharmacists of the same ethnic background so they are much more likely to go to their GPs or Pharmacist if symptomatic rather than a testing centre.

Ironically A Current Affair had a very good segment on this last week interviewing GPS and other ethnic spokespeople pointing out these problems.Also some pointing out that the NSW Government even before this outbreak was working through the ethnic groups to get health advice out to the non English speakers even using social media sites that those ethnic groups use.

The Migrant Resources centre said they had extra funding since this outbreak began.

And by the way last night they did a short follow up in Fairfield.Most shops closed and only 1 or 2 out in the streets apart from a local grocer where a few were shopping.

So why aren't these practices changing procedures, to screen reason for visit as other GP practices have been doing since last year?

My parents GP does not allow walk-ins, appointments only. The receptionist calls you the day before to do a symptom checklist (or if same day appointment at the time of booking). The door is locked, you wait in your car or outside until receptionist calls you to come in, only one patient (and their carer if needed) in waiting room at a time, no mask no entry.

It is really inexcusable this far into the pandemic for anyone to claim they didn't know they needed to get tested if they have symptoms.

Not dissimilar to what happened in Melbourne last year. At one point Sutton actually mentioned the Afghan community in the SE of Melbourne and that they were working with community leaders to ensure messages got out and confidence was being built. Obviously there were other ethnic communities that the same approach was being adopted for (and he got into trouble for specifically calling out the Afghan community,....)

While no doubt some may well have, it is yes wrong to assume that everyone who has visited a GP or Pharamcy has done so when symptomatic.

We know that many of those who are found to be positive have done so when a friend, family member or workmate has tested positive and they have been directed to get tested by NSW. So hence anywhere they have been ina likely infectious period then gets listed as an exposure site.

Of those a number may well have visited a GP or Pharamcy, or may have been someone working there. Especially as some of the exposure times have been quite long.





And even with the symptomatic, they may have also have made such visits before becoming symptomatic and seeking a test. So the period 3 days prior to that will get listed.


There are many reasons to see a GP besides the the list of Covid Symptoms.

No exposure sites in SA from the removalists but understand the family of four are now in quarantine and as they had five hours contact with driver I think they have been relocated elsewhere but not sure.

Many of these people have very limited English so go to the GP who speaks their language.So sorry it is excusable even though a concern.

At the beginning yes, now 18 months later no.

GP should have a sign on the door in the local languages advising not to enter if have symptoms, receptionist should be screening people before they can enter. No practices should be taking walk-ins. These procedures should be well intrenched.

I would say there's a lot of things we should be doing better 18 months later. Non English speakers walking into their GP is a long way down the list!

Vic reporting 2 separate 'incursions' from NSW.

1. Removal crew (2 of 3 crew now positive)
2. Family of 4 returned from Sydney on 4th July - initially tested negative (red zone testing requirement), 2 have become symptomatic now and tested positive

Sounds like Vic are not particularly happy with the quality of the information being supplied by the removal crew.

The removalist truck has potential to be interesting, if it eventuates that one of the crew does not test positive. Three people in a truck together, also working together. Should be as close as you can get to a certainty that all three will be infected (suffered an incursion to their respiratory system?)
