Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yes but wasn't he the one who had to get tested for a job so that's why they did?
There has been no mention anywhere I have read, as to why they were tested.

"The wife developed symptoms on 03/06 - " The woman developed symptoms on June 3 and Dr Young said she could have been infectious since June 1."
Queensland chief health officer Jeanette Young said the woman's husband had been admitted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital as a precaution in case he also tested positive.
"He's spent a lot of time with her in the car of course, so I'm quite concerned that he has been exposed and could become infected," she said.

All I know is that Annastasia will slam the border shut and I cant get back to tassie ! Home alone for 6 weeks !

Has Victoria said anything about this case yet?

Where did they go in Victoria before they left? Are they connected to an existing case? This could be a problem for Victoria as well.

Fairly certain if you have an exemption you have to arrive by air and only to certain authorised airports
I am currently in HQ in QLD. I applied for an entry permit into QLD and duly flew in. They offer quarantine in BNE or CNS. There were also a few people on the plane with me who travelled to my hotel to stay overnight before taking onward flights overseas.

This case is particularly infuriating to me as I am in HQ because I gave up waiting for the Vic lockdown to end only to face the possibility of a QLD lockdown when I get out of here instead!

Isn't the concerning thing about the Qld from Vic woman the fact that she wasn't listed as a close contact and in quarantine like the majority of more recent cases have been reported in Victoria? So where did she get it from?

Who says she wasn’t? Haven’t heard from Victoria yet.

Well, if she was a close contact then that would be a better outcome for Victoria/Australia rather than a random presentation but obviously significant issues for her behaviour then. It would be known already if that was indeed the case but as you say, nothing stated.

Just an update on the appalling treatment that this couple is getting from the QLD CHO, all in the name of ‘preventing the virus spreading’ despite being vaccinated and returning multiple negative tests - they are now seeking an QLD Health aponaoeedevacuation to Melbourne to get out of here and who can blame them.

Surely SOMETHING can be done.

Just disgusting.

Parents separated from premature newborn by QLD Health seek repatriation from Brisbane to Melbourne

A couple separated from their newborn baby by quarantine restriction has called on Queensland Health authorities to "correct a mistake" and help repatriate the family of three to Melbourne.

Dr Young defended her decision to keep the couple away from their newborn baby.

What have we become
This is not the Australia I migrated to!

(Note on the Press release that there was an emergency AHPPC Meeting this evening and so the VIC CHO would have been involved in that).

So Vic contact tracers only have gotten to interview them this evening. They would need the interview and to cross-check.
As she left Vic on 1st June, her first day of being infectious, she would not directly add any new exposure sites to the Victorian list. Though if she caught it from a different person that would most likely.

We will most likely hear more in the morning (or at least at the Vic Presser) of any known Victorian links to cases, including to exposure sites.

Apart from being a close contact or not, she may also have say just visited one of the large number of exposure sites but did not act on the required advice.

There were for example a number of cases who were infected in retail settings without direct contact ( as in spoke with or had a physical exchange) to the person who infected them.

The wife of the cleaner (wife test positive and the husband did after they checked him a rapid test) for example presented for testing as she was a daily shopper at a shopping centre that was listed to have many exposure sites (as in name stores), though not exact stores that she visited.

(Note the one below will be the one in this mornings report, and not the Qld related case)

Victoria was notified of one new case of COVID-19 yesterday.
The new case is a locally acquired case linked to the current outbreak.

There were three COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria yesterday.

There are 83 active cases in Victoria, 68 are locally acquired and 15 are overseas acquired cases.

Victorian health authorities are working closely with Queensland and NSW counterparts regarding COVID-19 exposure in those states.
An emergency meeting of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee was held this evening and further investigations are underway.
Any critical information will be provided to the public as soon as possible when case interviews for any potential Victorian exposure sites can commence.

Update: Outbreaks

The new case announced today is linked to the Port Melbourne workplace outbreak and was isolating during their infectious period.

When including some overlapping cases, there are 32 cases linked to the City of Whittlesea outbreak, 32 to the Port Melbourne outbreak, 10 to the Arcare Maidstone aged care facility and 15 to the West Melbourne outbreak.

There are currently no unlinked cases.

As of yesterday, there were more than 1500 primary close contacts linked to the City of Whittlesea outbreak, more than 2100 linked to the Port Melbourne workplace outbreak, more than 1000 linked to Arcare Maidstone and more than 1100 linked to the West Melbourne outbreak.

The majority of test results have been received for these outbreaks.

From recent exposure sites of concern as of yesterday, 442 of 490 primary close contacts from the Probuild construction site in the CBD had returned negative test results. From the network of jewellery wholesalers at 227 Collins St, 46 of the 53 contacts had returned negative test results.

Many exposure sites are expiring. The number of exposure sites in Victoria has reduced to 161 as of midday 9 June. The full list of exposure sites can be seen at Exposure sites.

The Department also manages a number of exposure sites which it doesn’t publish online, particularly if these sites represent lower-risk exposures, or if they have comprehensive record keeping and contact tracing measures in place, or if they identify small, private locations.

Exposure sites are regularly reviewed based on intelligence and evidence, following case interviews.

Interesting perspective.

I think you’ll find it was delivered with a healthy amount of humour / sarcasm :)

I guarantee you people are travelling around places they aren’t supposed to be everyday.

Oh well. Hopefully everyone is getting vaccinated as they are suppposed to, the vulnerable cohorts will be completed very soon at this rate.

It is about time that idiots like this who have obviously lied get charged and be handed the maximum fine allowed. How else are we going to reduce the numbers of these idiots who see that there are basically no consequences from deliberately ignoring covid regulations.
Go back to the original wave in Taiwan. The first fellow that breached HQ there was fined $US 50000 and also 3 months in gaol.Very few repeated his actions.
