Very good news on new cases.

Unknown trigger still at 31 though (An average of 2.2 per day).

Being 14 days there must be some higher numbers a week or so back that are just going to need some days of low unknowns to bring down the 14 day figure.

Today's breakthrough into single digit new cases (5) is most welcome.

Most likely the daily total will bounce up and down somewhat still till it at last peters out. Hopefully as the control measures which are still quite strict compared to other jurisdictions that had similar numbers will achieve that reduction reasonably quickly. But with a 14 day incubation period we have some surprises for a little while yet.

So the three Covidiots have been to court this morning. I just read this on news.com.au. Maybe sloppy reporting but they have linked them to the detention centre outbreak.

"Lasu and Muranga spent days in the community while infectious, shutting down schools and shopping centres, and have been linked to southeast Queensland's’ biggest cluster in months, which sparked outbreaks in the Queensland Corrective Services Academy, Brisbane Youth Detention Centre, and Ipswich Hospital.

If convicted all three women are facing a maximum penalty of five years behind bars and a fine of more than $13,000 as they front Brisbane Magistrates Court on charges of fraud and providing false or misleading documents."

The number of tests in the last 24hours was low, but the positivity rate was also very low.

Though stats wise, today's announcement is 1.

Though remember that this stat is lagged by 48 hours to allow contact tracing to occur. So today's figure is not actually for the new cases announced today ;)

And 3 deaths

Sad as it may be, but are many people actually caring about the deaths number when we've been locked up for so long? We all know that with that many active cases in aged care, death is more like a certainty.

To be honest, no because I’m half expecting it to be 50% of those in aged care with COVID. So the number is going to be large and a constant trailing number. Weirdly I’ll be surprised when Victoria gets a weeks worth of zero deaths.

Given that COVID may not be the cause of death then many factors come into play. And no one leaves Aged Care unless they have passed. The death rates of aged have declined with COVID.

. And no one leaves Aged Care unless they have passed.

Not correct. Ignoring in-home aged care, many use aged care facilities for short periods.

ie My mother who cannot live alone has been placed into aged care several times over the last year when my father had to be in hospital and family care was not possible for her including for one week since March.

Ok. I consider that respite care not Aged care. And it’s limited in how long you can stay and how many beds are available.

Cut to Dr Young in QLD shuddering in horror as she has to get out a second special border clock, now she has two! One for NSW and one for VIC! So much work!

She should just get it over with and announce that Queensland is closed permanently! It will remove all the uncertainty.
