Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Just a faint flicker of hope...

The 7 day Daily average of tested new infections has rolled off a bit, this may be very significant OR testing /reporting may have been truncated .
The 7 day Daily average death graph shows a similar pattern.

In these dark times with the Damocles sword ever closer..... we can but hope...

SA is apparently setting up a massive drive through testing facility in the old Victoria Park Racecourse right now (unconfirmed). And many more in the country. There were hours worth of queues yesterday in the major walk in hospitals.

Some restrictions have been re-installed in SA. But what is frustrating is that they are trying to use the statistics of those quarantined infectious people as a reason to shut us down. Three hundred plus expected into Adelaide today. Those results should just be ignored. Unfortunately it is the Victorians who are bringing it in right now; I dont think we've had anyone from another state bringing it in here.

Breaking: Understand Victoria has recorded more than 400 new cases in the last 24 hours and several more deaths. #springst #auspol @theheraldsun

That is fabulous. Hope that sticks. Thanks!

That is disgraceful if true. I hope at least he was wearing a mask and it does sound like he isolated. Still not enough though.
I have edited my original comment as the matter has been referred to the police

Your frustration is understandable.

I haven’t followed the specifics of SA the last two or three days, and I presume you are factually correct, but perhaps lets be more generic.......people travelling without good reason from (hotspots) ....... ;)

The Victorians/ Victorian residents are having a hard enough time as it is. ❤

Unfortunately if Newmarch is a guide, 50% of positives from aged care residents could eventuate in Covid-related deaths.

Well a bit yes, but I would not be calling anything just yet.........as there has been two other larger 7 day reversals that just zoomed up again. Though we can hope.

ANGER AS COVID-19 CLINIC PATIENTS SNEAK OFF FOR COFFEE BEFORE QUARANTINE

Brisbane residents want police to patrol their local shopping centre after patients from a COVID clinic have been picking up a coffee from a drive-through outlet before heading into quarantine.

‘UNACCEPTABLE’: SECOND LOGAN TRIO LIED ABOUT MELBOURNE

Queenslanders could be walking around unknowingly infected with COVID-19, with health authorities saying symptoms could continue to develop for six days following the Logan cluster, with a second group of Queensland travelers detained by police after they lied about their whereabouts and recent travel to Victoria

QLD Authorities desperately tracing 14 from flight with no contact details provided

Queensland Health are scrambling to contact 14 people who were on a Sydney to Maroochydore flight on which a man, who claimed to be a consulate official, was infectious with COVID-19.

Two passengers provided no contact details, further exposing loopholes in Queenland's pandemic response.

It’s believed the man was contagious while on the Sydney to Maroochydore Jetstar flight JQ790 on Friday, July 31, which was nearly full with 149 passengers aboard the 186-seat plane.

Queensland’s Chief Health Officer said authorities were still trying to contact 14 passengers. “Two passengers have no contact details,” Dr Jeannette Young said.

Sure. People without good reason, however even one of the Approved travellers tested positive last week.

I havent heard of people catching covid through plane travel but who knows.

Sorry, I dont get the angst about people sneaking off for a drive through coffee after the test. They could just as easily purchased one on the way to the test and nothing would be heard.

I stopped to pick up the kid from daycare after my test. The test clinic were aware and told me to get in and out as quickly as possible. I had no one else to collect her (TV was interstate).

A bit of a pickle if Border declaration passes don’t ask for contact details as a mandatory....I guess just email Is mandatory???

and none provided to airline.....how curious.

It just presents one more generation to catch if the result turns out positive. Which technically is not community transmission, since you can identify where you went and whom you interacted with.

Ideally not a great thing to do either, but technically if done after a test you are breaching the CHO health directions I think.

And that is perfectly acceptable as well. Practical necessity. If we make it practically impossible to have the tests done then quite simply people wont do them. And we are completely reliant on peoples good will in having the tests done.

Surely its better than simply not getting the test. Given that every state seems to go against Federal CMO recommendations or changes them midstream (borders, masks/no masks etc etc) perhaps its the best we can do. Having said that, getting out and going shopping is different but drive through? Needs must.

Assuming you had symptoms at the start of the day and decided to take a test, it might have been better to not send your child to daycare.

I’m aware some daycare (not schools as far as I’m aware yet) have a policy that if anyone in household is under a test, then don’t send child to daycare.

as I said if you have a positive result, you might have the embarassing pleasure to notify your child’s daycare.

edit: as you developed symptoms during day, can’t be helped.....safety of child.

well I guess the modern inconveniences/needs drive human behaviour which is incompatible with controlling a pandemic.....which rules do we want to follow today....hence Vic Premier on repeat throughout Stage 3 re: symptoms, testing, isolating.

ps I agree drive through is less contact.

I felt fine in the morning but quickly went downhill over the course of the day. Just one of those things unfortunately.

And that is at the core of the problem I suspect.

Thinking also, in SA if arriving from NSW it’s acceptable to come here but if flying you have to get to where you are staying. You have to be tested day 1. So Uber?

Masks not required or even suggested here but if after the flight you feel clogged - just from the flight but maybe not - symptom - Uber - wherever you are staying - iso - Uber - test facility - Uber - iso. It’s an imperfect system but the best we have.

Waiting for the VIC presser to start. Reading that they will be announcing a permit system.
