Test. Test. Test ................

That assumes you have access to unlimited test kits and resources. We don't.
That said Australia's testing rate is higher than pretty much every other country.

Yes, I understand that logic. I also look at the potential cost of having asymptomatic carriers wandering about the place.

I have seen far too many people not doing the right thing with social distancing. I had to ask one person to move back from me in a line today at a fresh fish shop (long line, and constantly closing in behind me). 😡

Test. Test. Test.

It is not about cost, it is that there are so many test kits available and only so much reagent available to manufacture more here in addition to what they can buy.

You could go and waste our entire stock now on mainly people who do not have it, but then you would be stuffed when you really need it to test on those likely to have it including those identified by contact tracing to be a reasonable chance of having it.

The strategy that they are following is working exceptionally well, and this includes being gaining maximum benefit from the test available.

You cannot test, test, test when you do not, do not, do not have.

He needs to be sacked but he is the parliamentary leader of the dominant faction of the Liberals.Gladys really does need to grow balls and sack these morons. If she doesn't she loses the next election.Of course if she does she may be rolled by her "friends".

NSW Arts Minister Don Harwin has just resigned. Should have been sacked..

But surely we should be retesting positive cases before we release them from Isolation. That is the practice in some other countries.

Particularly when you read statements like this. Screenshot_20200403_101207_com.android.chrome.jpg

I struggle a little bit with this one. Much of the struggle is because I believe any lynching party that has a politician as the principal character deserves free beer. That given, this was someone at their designated place of retreat. They may, or may not, have been rorting the situation. As far as I can see, nothing has been established one way or another. I strongly suspect the action by police was driven by information, rather than noted transgressions.

No he was continually driving back to Sydney and there was proof. But also he was pulled up by police and told them he was going to a medical appointment-he wasn't.

I‘ll side with the Police on this. The fellow can always take this to court and argue before a magistrate.

Thanks for that. My conscience is more comfortable now. I hate giving them the benefit of the doubt, the free beer is so much easier and unfortunately, often more appropriate!!

Another warning about complacency:

Interesting looking at the included graph. International agencies are raving over how good Sth Korea and Singapore managed their outbreaks.

Obvious to me that if the figures are to believed (nobody believes China) politics is playing a large part on what is being said and ignored when you see the curve for Taiwan.

Taiwan has almost the same population of Australia. Singapore has 20% of the population of Australia. Sth Korea has double the population of Australia. Japan has 5 times the population of Australia. UK and Italy are both only 20% bigger population than Sth Korea.

While this whole episode has quite a while to play out, and I have zero visibility of what measures they have taken, Taiwan looks to have the best current situation of the majority of the countries in the world.

Singapore and Japan have no bend in their trajectory at all.

While we all could come up with a criticism or fifty of how the feds or states in AU have handled or fumbled various aspects of this pandemic, and we all would have liked to be where Taiwan is at; comparatively things are pretty good here compared to lots of places.

That is some days old. The ABC now use federal government recovered figures ... Just now:

View attachment 213306
It wasn't posted for the numbers. I know it's old. It was posted for the quote that it was too difficult to tell when a person has recovered. Despite acknowledging this they have criteria stating you are deemed to be recovered after 72 hours symptom free. The only way to tell is by testing but they don't allow you to have a test.

I am hearing reports from the north west of Tasmania that the public hospital is running short of PPE. Very worrying because it is a hotspot, numerous infected staff and 100 sent home to self isolate.
