Mc Clown not looking so smug now.
So it’s only the HQ worker positive?
There were rumours that 3 Uber drivers were positive aswell but must have been fake news
There are three close contacts so maybe it's those but they expect them to become positive.

Quick every premier should SHUT THE BORDERS to WA right now ;) They are the least prepared and scored the lowest on the federal review of contact tracing and health procedures after all.

5 days. 1 case? This guy must have gone to 100 nightclubs or something?

I think they expect more though. It sounds like the guy did the right thing as soon as he got symptoms. Was tested negative a few days ago. Geez he went to several places though when likely infectious including a GP. Heaven help those arriving on planes right now and straight into lockdown.

Maybe the close contacts are also user drivers? Interesting comment from Premier we expect them to become positive. Alarmist or are they not disclosing info?

Symptoms already I'd suggest. Spurrier did the same thing in our most recent outbreak. She was right for some but others never went positive. Maybe over reaction but WA thinking it is UK variant.

I was just thinking, again, this morning, that this thread was going quiet. Even just thinking that is dangerous it seems.

Loads of contact places on the list.

And having been in Perth over summer there is zero social distancing, zero masks, random contact tracing efforts so the chance of transmission is far higher than SYD and MEL for sure....

It has been business as normal in Perth for so long now that the restrictions will seem extremely harsh for them.

He did go to the Dr - GP for symptoms and then got tested. Sigh. Why don't people do the test first then go to the GP if negative? If positive, straight to hospital and advise them of positive?.

Oh, this positive guy is a ride share driver according to Premier. Wasn't that banned?

He is a ride share driver Premier has just admitted. He hadn't worked since testing positive. Good grief. Does he not understand?

Hopefully he and his passengers were wearing masks at all time and sanitising appropriately, travelling with the windows open etc etc

The infectious man was working as a Security Guard at a hotel that had four people with either the UK or South African variant. On one shift he worked on a floor where someone with the UK variant was quarantined. So they are assuming it is the UK variant until the genome testing comes back. His close contacts have so far tested negative, so hopefully not yet infectious as yet, and are in quarantine.

He is a UBER or like driver but claims not to have worked a shift since the likely date of infection.

All of Perth, Peel and the South West is in lockdown from 18:00 tonight. Masks compulsory outside of the home. Schools will not go back tomorrow. Only 'essential' workers to go to work.

I bet that some state premiers are having a private moment or two watching the panic in WA and having a quiet little moment to themselves after all the vitriol that was hurled eastwards to almost all states at some point....

Anyway let’s see what this outbreak coughs up. Hopefully it is a non event like QLD and the VIC Sydney seeding cluster.

At first he said that the guy hadn’t worked for a few days but there is too many petrol stations on the list of places IMO
At the presser the Premier stated his information was that the man had not worked elsewhere since his hotel quarantine shifts Jan 26 & 27. Which does raise the question why multiple extended duration potential exposure sites have been identified, including a KFC for a 6 hour period. Perhaps they are where his flat mates, who have so far tested negative, worked - though that has not been made explicit.
The CHO said he was symptomatic from Jan 28, tested positive Jan 30, being treated as infectious since Jan 26. Daily surveillance testing of all WA hotel quarantine workers only began Jan 28 or 29.

If there are significant cases which state will slam the door shut first on WA do we think....?

- NSW would dearly love to, but Gladys is just going to ensure WA learn the lesson of staying open I expect
- QLD will probably be the first out the gate to shut the border, the mutant virus seems to have scared QLD Health alot
- VIC will probably slap some red and orange zones on Perth pretty quickly
- TAS will probably follow VIC

I really need a mini break and was looking at outside of my home state (SA) but stuff like this makes me just go - nope stay in your own state and then you can't get locked in or out of places. :(
