Not necessarily the positives as lots of breakthroughs but unvaccinated and partially vaccinated still account for majority of the hospitalisations topped up by those with serious underlying conditions.

From todays SMH:

More than a third (35.5 per cent) of COVID-19 infections recorded in NSW between December 1 and December 23 were in the 20- to 29-year-old age group. Of 36,153 cases in the weeks before Christmas, 7305 were aged 20-25 and 5526 were 25-29.

The next-highest percentage of cases have been among 30-to-34-year-olds (10.7 per cent). The larger demographic of 0 to 19-year-olds has accounted for 23.2 per cent of infections.

I would expect that the proportion to actually go up as the number of unvaxxed drops due to vaccination - just like Israel and not because of lack of vaccine effectiveness

If 100% are vaxxed the proportion of unvaxxed positives would be zero.

Friend of my eldest son received Covid test result this morning from test done on Dec 23. So only around 120 hours! Result was negative and provided by SydPath at St Vincent's in Sydney so hopefully is not subject to revision.

The fact that a single backpacker can undo this “covid zero” fantasy is a confirmation just how insane it is. We’re literally locking up hundreds of people and conducting a huge breach of peoples basic rights because they have come within farting distance of somebody who has a mild virus that 80%+ of the WA population is vaccinated against. IMO, the biggest pity about the current WA situation is that it was not Omicron that the backpacker brought in. If it had been, maybe we would be seeing a situation where Marko's 'crush and kill' mantra would finally be crushed and killed itself.

With a few less transmissible Delta cases, he can still play the 'crush and kill' for all it's worth.

I believe I have been a compliant citizen over the past two years but the last week or so has changed my outlook moving forward in regards to COVID. Huge lines and wait times, having to quarantine , rules changing every 5 seconds, people making stuff up on the fly has just convinced me that no one has a clue.
The only reason I will get a test if it’s a requirement for overseas travel. If I have flu like symptoms I will not go and get tested. I will stay at home and only leave the house if I require essentials. If I’m sick I will wear my mask in public places and that’s about as far as I will go.
Me staying at home for 14 days is not going to flatten the curve. It’s out there for good and I’m ok with that.
Ive had my 2 jabs and me doing what I stated above is as effective as any other system out there without getting the label of having ‘COVID‘ and needing to quarantine.

If I can throw a slight spanner. If you were about to fly overseas and suspect you became positive two weeks before due to travel then I'd get tested asap to ensure the date of positivity was recorded medically in case you were still testing positive once you were no longer infectious when preparing for the pre travel test.

The inaccuracies in these articles are getting tiring. He didn’t force “hundreds of people into isolation” and a business to close. Nor did the virus. That’s all on the south Australian government.

For anyone fully vaccinated and under the age of 30 you're certainly more likely to end up in hospital due to alcohol poisoning than COVID.

The whole country didn't care either when the weekly mortality rate for winter pre Covid years (2015-2019) at the best of times was higher than the covid years of 2020 and 2021 - for pneumonia and respiratory illness.
I don't think people in the night clubs vaxxed or unvaxxed really care either - Its a nightclub and a lot more than Covid goes on there. It would be a very strange nightclub where the patrons really followed the rules.

What I don't get is why people care now

The young fella is a nightclubber. I dont know for sure if he is an outlier in terms of nightclubber mentality. I hazard a guess that he is not.

Close the borders, or go into full Lockdown? Not much else he can do, already shut down hospitality and you have to wear facemasks everywhere.

Accept it my political friend, you need COVID spread to get immunity and stop the COVID madness. All he wants to do is prolong the pain.
