Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Surprising that she did not use this opportunity to request reducing numbers, forcing other states to increase their intake.

Because she knows those states wont increase their intake, if anything they will also look to reduce.

And a great example of how hopeless the press are reporting on Covid and how well the QLD Premier and CHO understand covid.

So AP is so concerned about the delta strain appearing on the Sunshine Coast that she brings in mandatory masks again.

And News thinks she is about to introduce a 3 day lockdown-other outlets across the spectrum are also predicting this.

However our independent digital news outlet on the Coast has spoken to the woman from the Granites mine.
"The mine worker said she wanted to give people on the Sunshine Coast peace of mind that “at no time did I mix within your community”.
Friday June 25th. Flew from Granites Gold Mine to Darwin. Caught a plane from Darwin to Brisbane. Caught a shuttle bus from Brisbane to residence in Bli Bli area.

“I wore a mask the whole time from Granites to the residence in Bli Bli including on the shuttle bus.
“Saturday 26th June. Left early from residence and travelled by car to Moura. I looked at my phone at this stage and found the notification from my worksite stating that a positive case had been confirmed and that all employees were to get tested immediately and quarantine themselves.

“I drove back to the residence in Bli Bli and quarantined.

I'd honestly rather the federal government tell QLD not to accept any more international arrivals period - then they can stop making cheap political points about it. NSW is already doing the heavy lifting and is happy to keep doing so, even with the current outbreak.

It speaks for itself.

Meh, but QLD would just shoot down the next HQ outbreak from whatever state it leaks from and score points that way. Guaranteed.

The only good thing out of this outbreak is that my friends are now starting to take vaccination seriously. Many are trying to bring their vaccination forward if possible, or just try to book. Some involve more than 1 hour of call waiting.

I think you mean these outbreaks.

Well I did say a week ago we needed a Typhoid Mary or two to get vaccinations going. I didn’t really want it to happen though…..

Thank you Gladys! I knew there was a reason we encouraged the Seat son to fly into Sydney!
The problem is once they are in Sydney is there a guarantee they can go elsewhere? I know in theory people are allowed to quarantine and then immediately fly to the next destination without being viewed as having been in a hot spot. But what if something happens and the airport itself becomes a hotspot? Or am I overthinking this and worrying too much?

I hope you are over thinking it. He’s not coming until middle of August so I’m hoping by then he can come out of quarantine at end of August and we can just collect him and drive him home.

Or she doesn’t realise that people don’t get paid, unlike her good self.
Or she thinks that acting quickly reduces the risk of being forced into a longer lockdown later, with people missing out on even more pay.

August should be safe. (Surely!) Master FM is now just waiting until things become clearer and then he will book. His problem is he has to include Melbourne in order to do his visa interview and Melbourne seems to be turning themselves into a fortress and they take forever to go from red to orange to green. Flying into Melbourne from west coast USA is not easy, but hopefully he will use Madrooster to help him.

With respect, that's not how it works. I suggest you listen to many of the CHOs who explain when to use a short lockdown and when not to. Three day lockdowns are for contact tracing to catch up when they are behind. They don't stop an outbreak (no more than contact tracing could if it was on top of it).

The best (only?) ways to get to Melbourne from west coast are via SIN, DXB, AUH or DOH.

If going via SYD, this situation is contemplated in this document (half way down page 2):

Okay, maybe she thinks that it will give contract tracing a head start, reducing the risk of needing a longer lockdown later, with people missing out on even more pay.

I should’ve known better than to post anything positive here about AP. I was replying to an inference that she doesn’t care that people miss out on pay. That’s as ridiculous as me saying Gladys doesn’t care about people in Sydney missing out on two weeks pay. I’m pretty sure they both care.
