Australian domestic travel 10 years on

In 2000 I moved to Darwin. Only Ansett offered direct flights DRW-PER. QF started them in 2001, a few months before Ansett collapsed. When DJ first started operating to those locations, they offered fares between DRW-PER - but you had to go DRW-BNE-SYD-ADL-PER!!

But you could get to drw from per via either Broome or karratha with qf.
I clearly remember my aunt letting me in on that secret, as she lived in karratha and they always book a one way award in the max distance bracket that was actually a Round Australia flight. It wasn't long after being told about this that qf change the award points required or the calculation method. I believe the chnage happened about 3 months before I had enough points to go around Australia... lol

I travelled on the 11000 km 37,500 point (Business class) journey several times in the late 90's.

On one of these I went PER-ASP-DRW (146's) ...
