As usual, I down tools to attend the Test in Brisbane - as I have done for the last 30 years. Usually it's the First Test, however this year, the Indian team wanted to flip things around, so instead it's the last Test, starting Friday 15th January (again, a change to he standard starting day of Thursday). Full schedule here: India tour of Australia, 2020-2021 Schedule

Always enjoyable to spend time in the Cricketers Club, have silver service lunches and beers/wine flowing. There has been a group of us going to the match together for over 30 years - used to be my Dad and Uncle, but they are getting long in the tooth to be drinking all day, given their age  ;)

I will give live updates, photos and general commentary over the first two days, alas being a father and husband has again curtailed my full attendance.

Also taking a guest as usual and they may also be posting here
Excellent. So QCA isn't running a ballot for members to get seats and you can take a guest? Our SACA has called for a ballot as not every (paid up) member will be able to attend and transferable tickets and guest tickets are not available this year.

No, direct from the CEO of the QCC, Lachlan Furnell:

Restrictions will apply to Day 1 of the Test, being Members plus 1 guest only, to allow as many Members the opportunity to attend. Please understand the Club itself is still operating under government restrictions. All Members purchasing for the upcoming Cricket season through QCC do so with the understanding that there may be times during their attendance where the Club itself is at its maximum capacity (515 pax) as per the current regulations pertaining to indoor venues. Guests who are outside in the stadium seating bowl or entering from the front of the Club, may be asked to wait until patrons from inside have exited before they can enter, to ensure we are adhering to these indoor venue capacity restrictions. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
Partner and son have put in for the first two days into the ballot. I can't go this year as we buy the associates ticket for me. Maddening but there are enough seats for all members to go, but ACA are selling an unknown number of seats to the public and no one will tell members just how many members will be able to attend. 😡. Not sure after having paid members rates to then buy a ticket for me and we won't be able to sit together anyway. And I mean, we will have to be on different sides of the oval.

Let’s start anew

Kohli only playing 1st Test day/night in Adelaide and heading home for birth of his first kid....

How long have you been a member. Friend who has been a member 20+ years and never missed day 1, didn't get Day 1.

from the sounds of it, there‘ll be some excess capacity after the members ballot slots have been locked in.... at that point other members will be able to grab anything left available at that point in time....

Supposed to get email yesterday advising of ballot results. Seems like we lucked out of all 3 days. But they haven’t even bothered to send that email. 😡
Partner is off to lunch at Adelaide Oval day before it starts and the 1980’s Sheffield Shield Winning Team as special guests. Sad loss of David Hookes. Justin Langer will be there, well known to MrP and to son who bowled him out in our backyard. An interesting conversation about not being able to attend will be had.

We haven’t even received an email for any of the 3 days. MrP been a member from when he played first class cricket.

Some utterly dreadful fielding at the Stars v Thunder game tonight .... they could have held them down for <50 if they had managed to hang on to a few more catches!

I gather the junk email folder has been checked ?

there was a trap in the original booking process in that you had to do one entry for each day, ie total of 4 requests for each separate dat....

email content that advises repachage round of tics...

Congratulations Captain J ,

You have been successful in the SACA Member Test Match ballot for 1 Ticket on the following day(s):

Day 1

Day 4

If you balloted with other Members on any of the above days, they too have been successful for that day and will receive an email notification.

Please note, we will also send an email notification to the Ticketek Account holder who completed your ballot entry.

You can select your seat and redeem your electronic Member entry ticket from 10am Tuesday 1 December until 10am Thursday 3 December, using your unique SACA Member code: 000xx_xx_xx

When you redeem your ticket, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Enter the unique SACA Member codes of up to eight other Members you wish to sit with (any Member codes you enter must have also been successful in the ballot for that day). If you do not enter the other Member codes at the start of this process, then we cannot link you later, and you will not be sitting together.
  • Select your preferred seating area. You will be assigned the ‘next best available’ seat in that area.
More detailed instructions on how to redeem your ticket via Ticketek (including the Ticketek link) will be emailed to you by end of day Monday 30 November. SACA Member Services will also be available via phone (08 8300 3232) for extended hours (from 9am-8pm) on Monday 30 November to Wednesday 2 December to assist you with this process if you require.

If you have not your redeemed your tickets by 10am Thursday 3 December they will no longer be guaranteed for you, and will become available to all remaining SACA Members via Ticketek, on a 'first-in-first-served' basis, until capacity is exhausted.

Due to the number of Members who have entered the ballot, Guest Passes and complimentary access for children under 10 years of age will not be available for days 1 - 4 of the Test Match.

To accommodate as many Members as possible, seating for SACA Members will be available in the western stand, Riverbank Stand and eastern stand.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes we checked the junk folder. Son put in two entries for he and MrP for two separate days on sons ticketek account. He received nothing from either ticketek nor SACA yesterday. They did receive the original ballot reference number for both members for both days.

For the third day I did the ballot for MrP as son has a wedding. I received a receipt number for the ballot entry and which did not go to junk.

According to that email you showed above as the ticketek account holder I should have received an email yesterday and so should MrP. Again neither of us has received anything.

So three different email addresses used and none of them received anything other than complete reference numbers for the original ballot lodgement.

SCG has ballot for Days 1-4 which closes Monday.

The one-dayers were first in and the members allocation went in under an hour.

So I have an update. I contacted SACA last night by email and they replied this morning so sent over all booking details. Surprise - yes successful for both days and email sent Friday. Ummm. Nup. Son checked his emails and hey ho, surprise surprise the email just arrived this morning......time stamp 11.15am.

Further emails today one for each day for the original bookings

and today’s one day game again is behind a firewall and heading in the repeat direction. That makes it dull

What an idiotic own goal by cricket Australia to put the one dayers behind the Foxtel paywall. Free to stream in India via DD Sports but not here.

ABC Grandstand does a good job though, just like old times without tv coverage.

I think my contact with SACA in the last 12 hours caused a bit of a flurry and possibly many emails weren't sent. Kudos to someone in there working on a Sunday.

Anyway, good news! They had scored Days One and Two. But there remains a mystery over my ticket ballot for Day 3. SACA today said there was no ballot for Day 3, yet I see you've been allocated a ticket for Day 4.

Something is clearly amiss here.

Agreed

it may have been a case that less takers than available capacity so everyone won a prize but clearly some breakdowns i suspect .....

Took awhile to access the booking system 12+ minutes, and that’s just for one day.....

seats vanished before ones eyes gah, row GG doesn’t really have an appeal....

anyway seats locked in now and ready to go

Same. Son texted just after 10 and very happy.

Well that’s 2 wins and 2 Canberra losses.... both batting second without Warner .....
