Attire on international flight in economy

There’s no way that I’ll be staying in my day gear for an overnight flight. Good luck to those who can.

Wake up next morning, hog the potty room for a few minutes, then change back to day gear for the day ahead.
Unfortunately some people do not only 'hog' the bathroom for a few minutes - upwards of 10 or more!

Yes, I’ve waited more than 10 minutes and they’re not even getting changed. What are they doing in there?

Edit: In J by the way

Smart casual for me.
Plus any of a number of fresh citrusy scents - Azzarro Chrome is like carrying a shower in your plastic carry-on liquid bag - in fact it makes you smell fresher than if you had a shower in terminal.
Regards,
Renato

For the ladies....Any item of clothing with some lycra stretch component in the blend and preferably in navy blue or black, so when you spill your dinner that you have balanced precariously on the little folding tray table, it won’t show !
Wear a large oversized long sleeve T shirt, yoga pants, compression sox and add a colourful pashmina for a touch of chic ( and to use as a blanket if the cabin temperature reaches freezing).

I like to wear knit elastic waist travel pants in a loose cut. There are a few travel friendly styles around that are still actually stylish, and you can wear them out for dinner after washing them and tricking up with appropriate accessories. Bamboo ones are great. Chicos in the USA have great travel stuff for women.
I also wear thicker legging style tights with a longer top.
No way I will ever be in public in trackies!

Lulu Lemon make a fabulous casual pant in a stretchy material but not as tight as lycra. Doesn't crease or bag and in a nice cut so smart enough for Qantas Club teamed with a long sleeved tshirt a light zip front top (also LLL) and always a pashmina which looks nice and can be used for an extra layer if the cabin is too cold.. I swap into a lighter trakkie type pants for the sleep section. Sadly my two pairs of grey business class Q pj's from many years ago look so shocking I almost wouldn't wear them to bed....but they are sooo comfy

These are the exact tips I would have given! My only addition is to wear a patterned shirt, amazing how much can be hidden in a pattern.

I don't think anyone really expects you to be dressed up for economy. Wear what you are comfortable staying in for the whole flight.

I have been there waiting when someone does amazingly lengthy loo visit.

I literally once passed out in the toilet San Fran to Seattle. If someone was bashing on the door, never heard it. Came to just before landing and FAs never asked if I was ok (when I got back to my seat).

Sudoku? I browse my facebook page. I find that the "Hey look at me, I ordered and paid for a cappucino - #crushinglife #realcoffee #coffeesnob" type posts really helps to get 'things' moving.

Lycra and tracksuits* is unacceptable attire outside of an exercise situation or the privacy of your own home, but the shopping centre and school pickup fashions suggests otherwise.

* if not travelling as part of a sports team.

Just looked up LuLu Lemon, and it’s activewear! I was hoping it might be a good brand of travel clothes.
To each their own....but I only ever wear activewear to the gym.

My daughter has a pair, I'd call them almost smart casual (def not lycra) but can I recommend you go into a store and check em out

I remember seeing a All Black supporters group all board their plane in Auckland for a long haul and every one was wearing their ABs onesies - they looked great.

Last month I begrudged having to get out of my PJs for a 2hr transit to only get back into my PJs for my next flight. I would never wear PJs in public but I did wish I could for a moment.

Denim trousers and a shirt with a pocket that will hold a pen, spare glasses and passport...... Shoes with laces.
Happy wandering
Fred
