ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Have I missed something definitive here?

The Citi letter attached to the September card statement defining Eligible Transactions may not have changed (I don't recall the $10,000 in credit) though strongly doubt Citi are highlighting the Condition unless they intend taking action effective 1 November.
I would have a difficult case arguing against any "transactions made in operating a business", unlike Westpac which allows some business spend. Citi back in 2010 swiped my account for six figures clawing back some of the booty their systems had allowed me to earn over the 150K annual points barrier on my then Platinum card. I want to make sure they don't get their hands on a 7 figure haul this time.

Cove alert......Just got the 28 degrees shutdown overseas(cash withdrawal fee)
Applied for Citibank Plus account with Debit card for cash out......that the way to go Cove?
No promos on hey?
How this relates to ATO....have more money to pay ATO bills by cutting down overseas trip fee(I'm drawing a long bow ;)
Or should I use Bankwest?

Life remains mostly unchanged for us.
My sons now have another 50,000 US Dividend Miles this morning from the generous $US 567.50 cost (each). Very nice Share Miles offer that I stuck on my US AMEX to score some extra points.
Tax assessments are coming thick and fast....should I be excited about the vacuum cleaner in my pockets or not?
It is OK as it is only money.
I do have UK and US cash cards so it is really only Europe that I am not covered.
Did I say Travelex wanted $25 profit on $100 New Zealand last month so I saved a $25 note?
One of my AFF friends has just changed to Citi.

guys
i have just received my new westpac altitude black amex and m/c...thinking i could earn earn points on ATO spend
but westpac tells me this is not the case.....
can anyone clarify?

I got mine. I suggest you don't call them again and put other stuff on the card so it looks a bit reasonable.

Ok thanks
i read the t&c and it does say no points on government charges,.....does that mean we are just peddling above the water?

With Citibank it felt like an acid bath when they shut it down without notice.
Westpac has paid since js did his first post on this thread.

Could you refrain from being Westpac friendly and instead read / learn from what is posted here instead ?

That would be helpful to you and to ..... all of us here.

Thank you

Any ideas around new cards v established old cards......or you think should be the same?

Westpac Earth works OK. New or old, doesn't matter.

That is not to say this will always be the case, but as long as it slips past without anyone noticing then best to keep quiet about it and keep doing it. The take home message here is to NEVER ring the CC company about potentially dodgy transactions without searching for the answer everywhere else. And even then, probably still don't do it.

Slightly off topic but it appears that Citi ARE tightening up on their Ts & Cs, and not waiting until Nov 1. Received zero points for an insurance payment last week whereas previously these have gone through OK.

Citi cards will enhance themselves out of existence if they carry on at this rate.

Maybe this needs to be in another thread but what type of insurance?

Aircraft insurance. The company that I paid has the word "insurance" as part of its title so I guess I was asking for it. But even so, first time...

Citi have also ditched the free hotel night on the Select card from next year - 'enhancing' themselves out of existence is right...

The beggars intentionally making it hard to track points earn doesn't help.
Not made any easier when their latest app update ruined my OTP which after reporting will take up to 5 working days to reinstate access to my account and pay bills online.

I spent a few hours resetting the quarterly tax bills so the various credit card companies don't have heart palpitations when I start paying out. October is a biggie with BAS plus big quarterlies and Citi and direct Amex Ultimates have been delisted from the squad.
Citi points are hard to follow and I can never get the account and points to reconcile but mostly it is close and the overseas points are always correct. I would never call them other than to transfer points.
Virgin has a double 15% saving so I might transfer some points to them.

You can request an OTP by SMS in the interim.

My OTP with Citi did not work yesterday in 2 attempts and then a statement came out a few hours later.
Just a bit weird but I will not call them.
i went all Visa and MasterCard for ATO last month but this October I will have to use some Bank Branded Amex cards as well.
