First I’ve heard of that. I’ve had $2k sitting in credit in my PAYG account for 5 months which they refuse to refund and yet to be credited a cent of interest. How do I go about making this happen?
Most unusual these days IME. We‘be been refunded promptly with interest for overpayment. Get your accountant to contact them.

How about this one:

I usually buy the $250 GCs as don't need quite so many (I remember the "old" days with the $100 Only 1 Visa GCs from Woolies) so it's less labour intensive. I tend to use them straight away. Be aware that this site is onto those of us (I mean me and anyone who cares to admit to it) that buy these in bulk so I can buy 10 at a time and not every 24 hours as was previously the case, just at their discretion.

ATO also limits it to 5 payments in any 24 hour period (they too have been progressively tightening up on this). So I think unless you can allow a huge time leeway to when your ATO bill is due, we may be very close to the end of the line where these will be a viable strategy which doesn't eat up too much time.
I think this Mobile Pay eGift Card gives a better value if there is no 10% off on coles prepaid mastercard.

You will earn 1875 velocity points by just paying an activation fee of $5.95 on the purchase of a $750 gift card.

Get your accountant to investigate.
I am not sure if they look at overall payment schedule etc. (never in arrears/no extensions/history of early payment) 🤷‍♀️My comms say words to the effect of you are eligible for interest for early payment greater than 14 days
Might not be worth the effort depending on how much your accountant charges.

Yes, I won’t be bothering the accountant over what will amount to maybe $60. But I would certainly like the money for the principal of it.

Related to accidentally overpaying with discounted coles gift Mastercards. Told they will only refund to the original source with are obviously long gone. Laughably told me to contact the card issuer and request replacements. Didn’t address this comical situation where they would potentially be making small refunds to 40+ different cards but hey, this is the ATO. Couldn’t get any intelligible answer when questioned what they do in the event that someone’s credit card or bank account have subsequently been closed. Just told it was “against the law to refund to a different source”. Could not provide me with the legislation that says that either.

Initially told that the funds would have to sit there as credit towards a future liability. So theoretically could be in credit forever. Then when told how laughable that scenario was the story changed to it will be refunded automatically as part of the next tax return. Will be surprised if that actually happens but I’m tempted to do my return 6 months earlier than usual just to find out. The place seems filled to the brim with clowns who have no idea what they are talking about TBH.

Seems to align with what a mate of mine told me when he did it. Appears that someone no longer wanted to refund accidental overpayments so they've trapped the $$. I wonder what they do if you've paid to a non-operating company like the corporate trustee of a family trust's account. The trustee will never file a return as its sole purpose is to be the Trustee of the trust. Sounds like they've closed this avenue for points generation - even for paying monies legitimately owed given the daily payment limit. Wonder what's left to us now that Beem IT has also been closed thanks to whoever posted the Tik Tok video.

I think one can be too smart when paying ATO. That’s the price one pays it seems.

I see
I have never paid using gift cards - or beem - etc. but happy to claw back what I can (via interest through early payment). You have to declare it of course - and around we go!!

Thanks for the heads-up on the gift cards!

I just purchased one $750 Mobile Pay egift card, used it for ATO. I'll wait to see if the VBF points post before doing more.

I wondered if the Activ VISA Egift card from the same site (giftz.com.au) might serve the same purpose, as the activation fee is only $4.95. It's not too different to the $4.95 fee on the Mobile Pay one, but I think any saving is worthwhile when doing multiple payments. Has anyone tried the Activ Visa gift card?

Hey, why 750 and not 1000? I had a quick look and I saw the max value is 1k. What did I miss? Thanks!

I've bought Activ Visa cards from Officeworks for $1,000 - they're available online and in-store. They didn't work for me for ATO payments. Has anyone else had any success? I use them as an "easy" way to get SUBs for new cards and then spend them anyway - though the ATO is not one of the places they work (for me anyway).

I tried those activ visa cards from officeworks too, doesn't work, but I can use it to bpoint council rates..? It also doesn't earn flybuys..

I don't think I used it for council rates yet. Have used them most everywhere including paying my strata levies - shame ATO doesn't work.

Is anyone seeing issues with B2BPay? I've had one payment outstanding for 2 weeks (10 business days) and I keep getting excuses.

I've already had my credit card bill and paid it but they keep moving the settlement date. They're making me nervous.

Had a big pile of quarterlies to pay this month. Just finished the last one this morning.
Meanwhile gold has gone over 2,000USD an ounce with the AUD at 0.6330 .

Yes we are closing in on the usual American Airlines promo at Thanksgiving and 0.6330 hurts. That is AA.com to register.
At least we have fed the fiscal fiend for 3 months and once my knee is working well we are going to Sydney and the US.

So is Sniip now the cheapest way to pay ATO with AMEX & VISA to meet spending requirements? Any better/free methods like before?

Trying to meet my spending critera...
