ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks for sharing this. I made a small tester payment on one of my MC's. I tried to add Dragon but it wouldn't let me :(

correction: was just able to add Dragon whereas couldn’t last night.

Wonder how long g this will last before they shut it down.

On similar note, can anyone recommend the most efficient way to earn points by paying off credit card bill? Sniip only seems to allow BPAY bank transfer. B2BPay does allow CC, but the fee makes points >1c each. BEEM only allows debit card to pay CC bill. Any other options? Thanks.

It's a points holy grail and you can be sure if someone knows how they won't publicise it much

There do seem to be options at least now, where there weren’t any before. Just not offering points at an attractive enough level.

One of the 'above board' options is Yak Pay. You have to fund the payment by bank transfer only, and the earn rate is 1 point per 3 transacted against a fee of 0.66% (so works out to about 2c per point).

You can choose between Velocity or Qantas Business Rewards. Points generally appear within a couple of business days of the payment being processed.

Basically, instead of sending a BPAY from your bank account straight to your credit card, you send an amount to Yak, and they on-pay your card (after deducting fee and rewarding points). As there are no cash flow benefits, it's really just a points buying exercise if the benefit exceeds the cost for you.

EBP is another one to look at, although they changed their fee structure a while ago and I haven't transacted with them since. Off-hand, I don't think you'll find fees below 1 c / point though. I haven't checked YP's terms for a long time, but I don't recall them allowing this, other than bank transfer. There's quite a lot of info on this somewhere upthread or on a related thread, so you might like to search by some of the platform names.

I checked this morning and they were there. Shame mine is full currently. Will keep this option in mind while it stays open. Assuming Beem is looking to build volume before they start charging - won't look the gift horse in the mouth in the meantime.

This is an… interesting development. While Beem It is owned by EFTPOS which is owned by the banks it’s hard to understand how they can cop the merchant fees

Does Beem It even have a revenue stream? I can’t work out the business model on this one even having read all the media on it.

Milk it! ;)

Just tried to pay another organization outside of Canberra and I couldn’t as they don’t accept BPay from credit cards. Are there any other organizations this might work well with?

Just tried to add a Holey Dollar Visa card & it rejected as ‘overseas’. Are there any other banks that might be off limits?
