ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

What I don’t like about EBP is that it does not confirm which card is paying a bill. How to be sure it’s coming from the correct card, is it just the order of the CCs?

I too want to set up rent payments.

I don't like EBP's set-up for automatic payments, so I use it for manual payments. I would use B2B for recurring payments, but I only do that for business expenses, as the surcharge is too expensive otherwise.

When I used to use EBP for more than one card, I would set-up a new EBP account for the 2nd card, as that way, I could keep things entirely separate

I add then delete when changing cards, only one card detail in the system at anyone time.

I've ceased using RP and B2Bpay

I've never pay myself, family or another credit card ...... only legit arms length transactions. Fully suspect this practice to come under intense scrutiny sometime in the future. FWIW, I've been investigated by RP - passed with flying colours.

Did you pay a cc with a cc from separate accts?
no, I set-up separate accounts when I wanted to pay different expenses on different cc's b/c it suited for points purposes - eg, I wanted to use up 1 point / $ on ANZ, whilst also in parallel using the dragon for different expenses - you could also use Amaroo's approach to adding and deleting cc's from EBP, but given time delays in making payments from EBP, I decided that might be too complicated for what I had in mind.

For AFFers who use payment processors for business expenses and would like a better overall points return, you may want to consider Diners of all things .

I would not worry about it quite so much - it's no different to schemes in the past where cash-equivalent transactions have been used as a loophole... buying coins from the mint or cash/cards on ebay or whichever scheme. Eventually it starts costing someone too much money/reputation and it gets shut down, but the chance of action being taken for past transactions is very low.

RP isn't really a good example, either. It was set up in concert with Amex hence the enforcement of their own terms. Vendors that haven't negotiated directly with a payment processor will only care about the T&Cs that apply to their merchant facility and the potential impact from that. I wouldn't spend my time worrying about their negotiations with MC/Visa.

My source is direct from banking industry ..... If you're using a card that is warehousing

Mmmm, I'm inclined to point out that there are probably a lot of forum members also from the banking industry. I've worked for half of the Big 4 and numerous other institutions over the years and wouldn't know squat about their policies around this, I happily (and excessively) churn cards and if working for them has taught me anything, it's how unlikely it is that they know what is going on themselves outside of some high-level metrics.

So perhaps this person knows what they are talking about, or perhaps they're part of the other ~39,000 employees of these orgs that have less than ancillary personal interaction with any policy or enforcement arm of the bank.

Agreed. If I was talking to a teller, low level manager, mid level manager, etc - I wouldn't bother posting it.

As a user from before EBP had a cc surcharge, I’ve benefited enormously 😉 from EBP and have never been questioned by a bank or government authority.

I guess nothing is for every though!
