ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Accountants alert..... Seeking info....
Mate has a business (himself)..... Worked, earnt but required ATO to issue a payback plan on taxes owed. This year he claims to have earnt more money..... But has put aside money for taxes, but maybe not enough.
How does it work if he is required to pay more taxes then he can afford with the outstanding taxes from last year still to be paid?

Plant the ATO will charge a 9% plus interest rate on any debt. I believe that debt is about 35 billion at the moment. That interest expense is tax deductible.
The ATO could ask for various assets to get sold. Now I do read the writ list and in Perth a chap has been sued for a bit over 7 million. Just remember it's only money.

This new year we get to pay just over 70 times for our trading business, our partnerships and trusts , our Super Fund , multiple companies and 4 individuals. I am feeling like I have been put on this earth for this. The 26 extra ones are for us to remit 26 fortnightly PAYGs seeing we do over $1 million a year.
Happy new year PLANT and all this thread followers.

The ATO man said I was one of the most polite taxpayers to call him yesterday. I guess those working for the fiscal fiend have been known to cop abusive callers

I'm not surprised since very few of us are volunteers and most of us are conscripts (FF points helps to soften the blow:) )

I was checking out the BW Qantas (platinum) card and it seems the T&C has been updated on 20 June, including:

Qantas Points are earned on all purchasesmade using the Card Account except:
...
- Government charges (other than GSTpayable in connection with the purchase ofgoods or services on which you earnQantas Points);
...

Anyone tried paying the ATO with BW cards recently? Does the points still post? (I'm thinking of signing up).

I paid almost 25% of our annual ATO on that CC just before it was "enhanced " in June and it has worked great

Hi All
So i've read through the last 200 pages, it took a while! Used to have ANZ Black and we all know that unfortunately stopped ATO points. I applied to Qudos bank and was knocked back, apparently I don't earn enough on my notice of assessment... despite my pleas that I earn more but it's been moved to another business I own. Anyone had any luck with a work around here?
Not happy with the earn rates at AMEX direct, Velocity express isn't bad though.
Looking at maybe St George Amplify Platinum Visa or Bank Australia Platinum Visa
Has anyone successfully paid ATO bills with these cards?
I have a ATO debt im holding off paying until I can earn decent points! Don't mind if its QFF Velocity or Kris
Appreciate any help! Thanks in advance
Alternatively private msg me as I appreciate that we are all running out of options here!
FYI im definitely not going to go calling the banks going 'hey do you...' hopefully someone here has tried one of the above 2 visa cards

Gravity the Bankwest Platinum is paying half a QF point per dollar and is reasonably easy to get. You are likely to get offered about $12,000 credit limit and it has a 200,000 point cap per year. The good news is that points being earned at 0.84 cents is pretty good and that fee may prove to be tax deductible.

FTR isn't that run by Citibank?
If so it is very likely to be a full on zero but test it with a $100 and let us know.

Yes it is but there has been talk in the past that the MC worked the actual DC didn't, but nobody confirmed fully though.

I don't have a DC but am looking for a new card for ATO spend, currently thinking about the Q udos but would be more tempted by the DC MC if it worked

If I recall correctly, the Diners Mastercard worked a couple of years ago (the ATO doesn't accept Diners), but required pre-payment and pre-authorisation.

In the end I decided against getting the card anyway, because the difficulty people reported dealing with Diners would be too much hassle for me.

I have been keeping an eye out, but I haven't seen anything about ATO payments in the last 12 months.

EDIT: Found the info from 18 months ago: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....s/diners-ropey-start-65331-3.html#post1183500
