ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Good thinking infinity....just going to empty a Cullens red to help out a friend.
Day off for sure....

Chilling by the pool in Sydney with a view through the heads.

Cold Asahi planning the runs for the January Japan powder trip.

Me thinks we should all make as many points now as possible with RBA changes c/c changes f/f changes I feel we are on hallowed times that will only get worse from here

Do both the Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card and the HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card (enhanced) pay for ATO at a 0.5 rate after $2500 per month? Is the enhanced HSBC now uncapped or still 300,000?

Trying to rationalise my cards and these two are looking pretty similar, so I will kill one off. If the above is true, and they are the same for ATO purposes, which card would you keep?

Not sure if HSBC 300k cap has changed, but all things being equal, it sounds like it will be easier to get anual fee waived with WOW.

Mrscove hasn't let me load her HSBC cc with ATO as she has her own expenses to load on that one so I don't know the correct answer shifty. I used 5 different cards tonight and will use another three later this month while I am reloading.

As far as I know, they both drop to 0.5 after $2500 - am only using mine up to that limit though, so I haven't fully tested this theory. I'll be keeping them both for as long as the annual fee is waived/reduced and the 1:1 deal up to $2500 remains.

Hi all

You know the card companies are trying to send us mad. Im sitting reading this tread. and still have know idea what I'm doing. my head hurts

So I currently have an Amex Centurion card that pays .05 points per dollar I spend on ATO payments. I have a Citi Prestige card that I was getting 1 point per Dollar. Now am I right have they changed that ? I also have a ANZ black rewards amex/visa that seems to be no longer giving points for ATO .

So what card do I need to get the best return on ATO payments.

I Pay around 700K per year to the ATO and if I only put it all on may Centurion with I get around 350k in points, and with my other spending IE personal, I get another 180k thats 530K. That pays for my trip to Europe each year F on SQ, and most of my interstate j flights. am i doing it wrong.

Better use ANZ Black Rewards Amex seeing it will go dead for ATO after 26th February. Suggest you stop about 3 days earlier to avoid any processing delay by ATO and credit card processor.
Forget all directly branded Amex cards (including Centurion as half a point a dollar is useless) and all Citibank cards (including Prestige) for ATO.
I use Citi Prestige for lots of stuff but not ATO.

This month I did put a small amount on Westpac Black Amex even though 0.75 rate is awful. I just wanted to be confident that we have a few extra years of flying in that warehouse. It wasn't easy to get my fingers working on that Plan B idea as the cost is high.

I am different then most as to how i value points. I have to pay the ATO,(like every one here) for me if I lodge the BAS via the Accountant, I get an extra Month to pay, then if i pay via a card I get another month, and I receive points. win win for me, I look at two F seats SQ to Paris as being around $27K cost per seat is about 2k tax and fee's, so it saves me $25k again Win Win. As for points value the amex .05 is better than nothing it was much better in the days when we received 2 points per ATO $ but I feel we will never see that again.

I need some help - this year I upgraded my CBA cards to Diamond - then ATO points have disappeared. Then I upgraded my ANZ Gold to a Black now it too has lost ATO points.

Which cards still give QFF points for ATO payments (no matter how "poor" the perceived value)?

More dire news today with Citibank introducing monthly points caps on their Signature Card :(

Indeed, very disappointing. This card, although free for life, will most likely be getting the titanium scissors.
