ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

2. Don't check Wpac Black statement during simliar period to check ATO points earn
3. Gnash teeth while hurried assessing remaining ATO options. (see following post).

My Rapid Assessment of options post WPBlack
Ignoring fees as they are the same regardless of card provider.
All are AMEX options.

WP Black (old) : ATO 3:1 earn, 2:1 KF/VA redemption = 1.5KF points/$ spent, 1.5VA points/$ spent
WP Black (new) : ATO 1.5:1 earn, 2:1 KF/VA redemption = .75KF points/$, .75VA points/$

ANZ Black Rwds: ATO 3:1 earn, 3:1 KF redemption, 2.25 VA redemption = 1KF point/$, 1.33 VA points/$ (25K bonus points, $375/yr - 3yr expiry)
ANZ Black QFF: ATO 1.5:1 earn, 1:1 QF = 1.5QF points/$ spent. (25K bonus points, $425/yr - no warehousing)

NAB QFF Premium: ATO 1.5:1 Earn, 1:1 QF redemption, = 1.5 QF points/$ (40K bonus points, $250/yr - no warehousing - max 100,000 pts/statement)
NAB Velocity Premium: ATO 1.5:1 Earn, 1:1 VA redemption. = 1.5 VA points/$ (20K bonus points, $150/yr - no warehousing - max 100,00 pts/statement)

Anyone willing to check my maths and/or add their own experience?
I'm leaning towards the ANZ cards to give the flexibility to redeem to KF or VA - but will happily take on board any opinions of my more learned brethren.
After stupidly missing the cut-off for WPblack my period of self-flagellation is nearly over, or will be once I get a new card sorted.
Regards,
P

Recent success with:
Bank West QF MasterCard for 200,000 points cap
Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer Amex
ANZ Black QF Amex
US Citibank for 0.81 AA miles per dollar

NAB QFF Premium: ATO 1.5:1 Earn, 1:1 QF redemption, = 1.5 QF points/$ (40K bonus points, $250/yr - no warehousing - max 100,000 pts/statement)
NAB Velocity Premium: ATO 1.5:1 Earn, 1:1 VA redemption. = 1.5 VA points/$ (20K bonus points, $150/yr - no warehousing - max 100,00 pts/statement)

NAB is little more generous with capping applying at $100k spend per month- potentially up to 150k points on Amex spend per month.

Citi US is a 0.42% cost with the ATO and an AA point is worth double a QF point so I still love it.
It is 35000 AA points PER-SYD-PER in J on AA points versus 72000 with QF so no need to panic if all you do is fly domestically.
Keep this to yourselves!

Don't worry I feel worse after getting caught by the withdrawal of the Jetstar card for QFF earn!

This has been asked before but I can't find a reply....Can anyone confirm that newly issued cards under Macquaire/Visa are also providing points for ATO payments?

I have an original card which works a treat, but are looking for a insurance policy in the better halfs name.

This card does work well with ATO. The 40,000 bonus points did post in a reasonable timeframe too.

whats the ratio for non amex on that NAB premium? it's not worth it right? this is basically an amex card..

Looks like the Woolies Cards are on the way out. New cards are capped at 2,500 points @ 1:1 and then 0.5:$1 after that. No doubt old cards will eventually follow.

Anyone have a ATO friendly 1:1 MasterCard or visa recommendation? At a glance, it looks like the only options left are relatively unknown, Qantas Credit union or MECU.

I do seem to be carrying a few passengers on my back when it comes to ATO.
The only thing I am disgusted with recently was the Sydney hostage taker was on a disability pension and used our legal aid money.
If you are 10% disabled why can't we have that person get 10% of the disability pension.
We have workers who have disabilities and they enjoy working and we are proud of them.

So you'd give a quadriplegic $388 per week (100%) but a paraplegic what? Only $200? They're probably equally unemployable on the open labour market, not that that's the only relevant issue. Disability and employability are different concepts.

Employers who give disabled people work are great, but it's a bit simplistic to suggest that all disabled people are equally employable, or that a sufficient number of employers are so altruistic. People who are injured and become unable to get back to their old jobs are sacked every day of the week.

I agree with you about this siege psycho, but you can't design a support system on the assumption that everyone is a cheat or a nutcase - all systems have rorters, but it's not fair to deny the rorters at the expense of the genuine and deserving IMHO.

But this is all OT. Damn you Amex for starting this decline in value for ATO transactions! I do wonder how many card cancellations a provider gets when they announce these changes and whether one might eventually break ranks to capture the market of disgruntled points pigs like us. Full circle. It seems that Amex started this whole thing to get market share and it really worked for them on that score, although perhaps at an unsustainable cost...

Egg we have a scandal in the area of 100% disability claims/entitlements but it won't be me fixing it. Australia has more folks on full disability pensions every year as the settings are incorrect in my opinion.
Now Amex direct is a goner but I visited those accounts today and saw 2 commas in multiple accounts so it was great while that was running full bore.
Hello Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer my old friend ...You are back in action and away from inaction.

Been lurking on these forums the past couple of weeks.
Have been paying my BAS for the past year with Westpac Black Mastercards which was quite good, and as I have a few loans with Westpac the cards were free of annual fee as part of the package they offer.

As the Altitude black Mastercard is no longer attracting points, Im looking at getting another card(the ATO fee using the Amex is just not worthwhile) IMO.
As I dont pay enormous amounts of tax (only ~around 80k/year) I am not really keen on signing up for a rewards card that has a high annual fee.
As pointed out by other members here - the WW EDR card seems to still attract points at 1:1, and the fees are acceptable.

Can anyone tell me, which WW EDR card is everyone referring to here? The QFF one or just the standard 'platinum' one (where you get Woolworths shopping vouchers)
Also, does there seem to be a cap to the amount of points you can earn (either monthly or yearly)?

thanks in advance.

Welcome. It's the qantas platinum card, but may no longer be a consideration. Others have reported that new cards are capped at 1pt per dollar for the first $2,500 and then halves. Apparently the woolworths website has not been updated. The Qantas Card Selector site has been updated.

Im in a similar position. I have an existing WWEDR card that is uncapped but are looking for another.
