ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

update on deft via beem it:
registered and payment seemed to have worked despite giving a message at first to the effect of "debit card required for this payment"
will update in a few days once transaction goes through

edit: just realised it might have to wait until statement is generated to check if full points were awarded and no cash advance fees charged 🧐

Wow didn't realise beem it accepted cerdit cards now. If deft is an option, looks like my rent arrangements are changing!
Reporting back on observations so far, the payment is being reported to Bankwest (so I assume the same at CBA) as "Miscellaneous Business Services". It also took an extra day compared to usual - my payments to DEFT are usually receipted overnight by the property manager but this took two nights.

So if time is of the essence possibly allow 48hrs for the via-beem-it-deft arrangement.

I don't think this was in doubt but received confirmation from Bankwest today that it is treated as a purchase, not a cash advance.

Full points on ANZ Black from my November statement
Righto looks like I'm applying for one of those this afternoon!

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed/posted this yet, but the ATO has dropped its surcharge for domestic Visa credit card payments from 0.8% to 0.72%.

Weird. Everyone else seems to be upping their visa surcharges!

Seeing we are in WA we are not flying anywhere much at the moment.
The last ATO went on our Amex corporate card and it cost 1.45% for the points. We need a couple of million points and we can get them cheaper than ATO.

Beem payments can only be made to billers that accept credit card by BPay so there’s still a limit to who we can pay.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've been using it with my Westpac credit card - going through as a purchase at this time - I imagine when the volume of Beem payments get too high, I'm sure the banks will nip it in the bud as another category they won't pay points for or treat as a cash advance.

Not all bank credit cards will work with Beem - such as Macquarie's for instance.
