ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

100% correct no good for ATO as citi issued cards. Thought I'd posted this in Select thread which is where is intended. Apologies.

Albyd.

Just this month I started building points in a Westpac Altitude Black card warehouse using my son's new card. It is just a bit harder as his credit limit is in the teens so I figured how to prepay on the card to get his points up to almost 100k. Quite ok for a 7 day opportunity. By the time November 9th comes around it can be a much larger figure.
He will then have to use a direct earn card like Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer post 9th November.

I know this might be a waste of money but can you use a Velocity Frequent Flyer card prepaid visa to earn a few Velocity points.

I need a top up to my account just a few hundred points short of an upgrade.

So would it earn points paying a few dollars on tax.

I think you can get a lifetime free Citi card but no ATO points.
Kris Flyer points will be convertible to Velocity shortly but they have not announced the conversion rate.

Slightly OT. The next quarterly BAS is due in October. Online it's saying due 28th Oct but think it's three weeks later with electronic lodgement?

From the ATO Website

25 November
Quarterly activity statement, quarter 1, 2014–15 – due date for lodging and paying if you are lodging via one of the following:

  • electronic commerce interface (ECI)
  • electronic lodgment service (ELS)
  • Tax Agent Portal
  • BAS Agent Portal
  • Standard Business Reporting (SBR).

I think a few of us will be paying our November BAS early.

i think i might even mistake and make my payments twice accidentally......oh dear.....the optussmartpay site was timing out......it has happened before.................might have to happen 3 times,if it can time out twice, there's a good chance it can timeout more.... it'll be my last hurrah with Altitude Black Amex, might as well go with what i can get away with. just received Payg's for more too. Yes!!!

I've never seen anyone so excited to pay tax. Let me forward a few payg/bas statements over for you to fix up. You can even keep the points ;)

Going to a school reunion Cruiser next month.
If only we could fly the lot of them to Las Vegas for their 50 year blast from those school days. That school only went to year 10 so we are not ancients just yet.
Now I guess we are going to pay some ATO in advance seeing we like paying them so much and Alt Black is heading to its demise on Nov 9th as far as this thread goes. An extra digit in front of any comma in that points warehouse should be our target is what I am thinking.
Go hard and go early is a plan if you have the money ready.

Not strictly a tax payment and small beer for some but in NSW there is no amex surcharge when paying vehicle registration with RMS (the old RTA). It would be an easy mistake to misplace a decimal point or pay twice.

Well going to go with ANZ Black Rewards next, no annual fee for the first year and 50k + 10k points, yes cough Krisflyer, but I'm after Cathay 2:1 all good, plus always fall back on the Visa with 2 points per dollar or 1 FF/$.

Rang CBA re Business Rewards Platinum (3p/$, $300 annual fee), no bar in relation to ATO, rang NAB re QFF Plantinum (1.5QFF/$) again no bar in relation to ATO.
