At last ! BP now accepting Virgin Velocity for points

Well funny enough, yesterday I received this double point offer. I was stoked as I've never been able to get VA emails to work.......until I looked closer. The email wasn't from VA, it was from Virgin Money. Is this who the rest of you are getting the offer from, or have you received a VA offer? It doesn't look targeted in any way.

Offer was from VA. It seems targeted but when you activate it it just places your number in a field before you press activate. So I have now activated the offer for all our memberships even though only one received the offer.

Handy to know.

I filled up today and swiped my Velocity card. I just realised when looking at the receipt that it didn't "take". It's not the end of the world, but is there a claim process?
Thanks.

Just log a case on the Velocity site. They will credit you the points and tell you the obvious; 'There appears to have been an issue when your Velocity Membership card was swiped in-store. If your Velocity Membership Card was successfully swiped it will have printed the number of Velocity Points you have earned. This is a way of checking that your transaction has been successfully processed on BP's end. I will now go ahead and award you xx_ BP Goodwill Points as a one-off gesture of goodwill.'

Of course you don't usually know there is a problem until you have your printed receipt!

Not Opal top-ups! Or, that's what I was told by the staff.

Opal card do not earn Velocity points. I've tested with $20 purchase and swiped my Velocity card. The receipt actually states, "Unfortunately, the item you purchased today do not earn Velocity Points".

Oh well, back to topping up at Woolworths on Everyday Rewards (QF double points promo or 500/750 QF points for purchases over $120/$160)...

Thanks for that. Seems like a crazy way of handling it. Next time, I'll watch the terminal carefully to see if it gives any type of recognition I can keep an eye on in the future.

Hi,
Where do you log a case for missing points?
BP doesn't come up in the list of "partners" you can select in the Claim Missing Points area.

And is there a list of participating BP stations anywhere?

Thanks
Dom

Its great there's another VA earning partner but I do giggle at the TV adverts saying things like 'fill up in Lismore, fly to Las Vegas' like its as simple as exchanging petrol for a free plane ticket. If earning 2 pp litre, with a 50 litre tank filling up once a week, and needing about 100,000 points for a return Y ticket to LAS, it would take almost 20 years to earn enough points from the petrol alone!

Thanks for this. I lodged a request on the Velocity site and was given the points.

Since when - I did. See post #85.

I did too .. and was successful.

I've since filled up twice, and have carefully watched what happens. These are the steps to identify if your Velocity card has been accepted.

1. Operator says do you have a Velocity card? You say yes. They must press a button to activate the EFTPOS terminal. It infact looks like it's ready to accept your Visa/AMEX. Wait until you see that.
2. Swipe Velocity. You will see a picture of an antenna come up. Wait until the animation finishes - that appears to be the lodgement of your Velocity number against the transaction.
3. The EFTPOS terminal will again show something showing it's ready to accept payment (I think it is Swipe/Insert/Tap card). Make your payment.

Hope this helps others. Key thing is do not swipe the Velocity card until it shows it's ready to accept a 'payment'. If you do not see the animation of an antenna, your Velocity card did not save in the system.

To clarify - It appears you had a technical issue on the day, so a exception ... If you simply forgot to swipe.. no missing points claims

[h=4]I forgot to swipe my Velocity membership card or BP temporary card at BP, can I claim the Points?[/h]

If you didn’t swipe your Velocity membership card or a BP temporary card at the time of purchase, you will not earn Points for that purchase.

Next time, remember to swipe your Velocity membership card or BP temporary card to earn Points at participating BP service stations.
