At last ! BP now accepting Virgin Velocity for points

I am not with Velocity and buy fuel weekly at BP. 4,500 points will give me a $25.00 BP gift card. That means I will need 2,250 litres at $1.50 per litre for 98 Octane costing $3,375.00 to obtain a $25.00 fuel card. A 0.74% discount, not even 1%. This is a joke. Why should I receive the same number of points for 98 Octane as someone buying regular unleaded at18cents per litre cheaper? 3 points for 98 Octane might make it worth it. BTW, the BP Premium used to be only 12cents over unleaded! Just another example of a company paying cheaply to track your spending habits. Don't join until they improve the offer is my recommendation.

I think it varies for everyone. In your example, your loyalty is already with BP and you still buy 98 fuel despite the increase in premium fuel over regular fuel.

The value to some lies in the accumulated addition of all the small opportunities to collect points. Like Fuel, Credit cards, mobiles, hire cars, etc etc

If one was only price conscious they would buy for example a Woolworths Gift Card at 5% discount on the Platinum amex credit card and buy fuel at woolworths petrol and use a $0.04 discount voucher..

I have found with BP you certainly need to be smarter. I also only use 98 and have a BP OTR ( on the run) a stone's throw from my house. They're always heaps more expensive.
Near my work, I have Costco and Coles next to each other and always heaps cheaper. Not far are about 3 BP's and all are a bit more expensive than Coles and Costco, but around 10-15c/ltr cheaper than my BP closest to home...
Easy VA points for doing what I will do regardless IMO...

On the flipside LPG guys are having a MASSIVE win here also receiving 2 points per L (currently 65.9cpl at my local BP) plus also having the ability to obtain a further 2c discount by swiping a BP LPG rewards card (63.9cpl).

$28.70 for 90 points (BP)... And filling up so often at the single service station has me the Amex local champion now as well (84 points total).... 6.2 points per $ :D

Who else got the double points offer up until June 6th?
Fill up at any participating BP service station* before 6 June 2015 and you’ll earn double Velocity Points.

Simply click below to activate this offer, purchase fuel at BP before 6 June 2015, and swipe your Velocity card in-store to earn 4 Points per litre of fuel purchased, with no minimum spend required^.

Wondering how we can leverage this and make it even better value.

I hope I get that. Need to fill in the next few days.

Oooo, I was wondering when the deals would start rolling in... My thinking as I finished filling up at the local BP for another 30 points

Hoping I get something tomorrow morning maybe?

I got the offer but only till June 1. Pity I just filled up...

If you don't receive points on a purchase, that is, the receipt doesn't state you have earned XX points, then get the attendant to refund the sale and then process it again correctly, so that you receive the points. I have had to do this a few times

Nothing received here, but was/are waiting for something as the receipts state that bonus points are not printed on the receipt, which indicates bonus offers will be around from time to time

Double points on my next fill, expires June 1 as a VA Gold
Got the email not long after seeing the deal here

Not surprisingly, no offer for me (at least not that I know of) but I did use this for the first time on Monday and points appeared on Tuesday. Now that was a surprise!

Well, if you are not a 'shrinking violet', go fill up at a busy time and offer to let the person behind you go first. If they don't have a VFF card then ask if they'd mind you swiping. But be quick to ask.

How thick is your skin....

I got a 120l swipe last week that way!

I'm not that desperate ahah I do a V8 that chew through the juice.. and I often fill up the other company cars when out. So may get 3-4 fills before June 6th.

No offer for me but I have used my card at BP a couple of times. Mrs SydneySwan, who has not used her card yet, has double points offer until June 1.

Not sure about you guys, but my concern each time is whether the card reader is set to read my card for Velocity or set to read my card for a transaction (global wallet?). I've seen different behaviour from the same type of readers all over the place. Some show a "swipe your velocity card" graphic, some scroll that graphic on and off, and some don't show the graphic at all.

Got the double points offer. But useless given I have a fuel card.....

Good point! I've never activated GW so I'm not concerned, but I see the potential problem.

I've seen this different behaviour of the terminal too. I don't have VGW but technically the terminal should reject the swipe for VGW and direct you to insert the chip anyway.
