Very good point … and even QF had the near-lie-flat pods in 2008.
Did QR possibly have a medium-haul setup for those short flights to/from Europe, with nastier spacing, sort-of like Business on QF domestic?

The OP was on EK, but I don’t believe QR had 2-4-2 either in business.

There were plenty of 747s kitted out in 2-4-2 business class when it was first introduced back in the late 70s and early 80s. That was like a current premium economy offering with 40 inch pitch.

BA might have had a recliner 2-4-2 config before the Ying-Yang. But that would have been a very long time ago.

UA had 2-4-2 J in very recent times. Rows of lie flat seats forward facing and rows of aft facing.
