Very good article and very good initiative by the crew to inform pax to eat beforehand.

Thanks for the heads up Matt! Am flying J to Palau in Oct, and back in Y. Given checkin closes early in Palau, my best bet I guess is to get a breakfast box from the hotel as you ae leaving or will need to buy some food to bring onboard!

I complained about the food on APW-BNE in Y and was given 10K points as compensation, no questions asked. It was pretty bad though, just a snack bag and the white wine was warm.

I think they could do better. I stayed at the Sheraton just near the airport and they had a lot of facilities, I can’t see why QF couldn’t contract them to make sandwiches or something.

Do they double-cater the beverage cart for the return flight? I guess the red wine copes ok without refrigeration, but white wine, beer and soft drinks might be a little "warm" 25-hours after outbound departure.

Does business class at least get a morning G&T or Bloody Mary or Bubbles with their breakfast muesli bar and "fresh fruit" platter (apple on a plate)?

Not sure about the answer to your second question, but yes the drinks would also be double catered. I wouldn't expect ice to be available on the return leg.

No ice. Also flew APW-BNE a few months ago but in J and everything -- including drinks -- is served at ambient temperature except coffee/tea as obviously they can heat water quickly.

The "meal" was bleak --- dried fruit/nuts, half a dozen pre-packaged snacks you often see on short domestic sectors in Y, and a small bowl of granola with room-temp long-life milk. It's a known issue and unlikely to change, but like @justinbrett, I did provide feedback and suggested this at least be better advertised (and, ideally, specifically communicated) and was given 10,000 points.
