Yes we flew Air Tahiti in business class on points and we were happy with the service. Didn’t go to SFO but the experience was ok.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

back in February we got some one way tickets SYD/LAX for $999 flying on christmas day. We got frequent flyer tickets home. Told a mate last week & he also got cheap one way tickets flying 3 January for $1299 & he also got some frequent flyer tickets home later in January.

Same creativity can be used for paid flights.

I booked Bali to Barcelona on Etihad Business for $2,200 for August travel, then used qf points on Mel-Bali business (could easily pay a cheap fare). This is cheaper than economy now!!
Some Business seats are over $15k return to europe atm.

I always look at Bali, Jakarta, Singapore etc. rather than pay the Aus premium on flights, and can mostly get a business reward for the first leg.
One does need to allow extra time (im staying in Bali a few days at a resort), so wont suit all.

Ive done : Bne- Nadi- Kiribati- Honolulu- San Francisco- All legs in 737's!- only for the committed Avgeek LOl

LAX-HNL-NAN-SYD on AS and FJ 738s. The HNL-NAN leg in Y was similar to a PER-BNE transcon on a QF or VA 738, only slightly longer.

I would assume the FJ 738s at the time had ETOPS.

Technical stop at Karibati when I last did it on their Max
