Hi all,

I would think NYCguy or QF009 would be the funniest people to send.

To get the most updates during the trip we should send samh004.

I wish luck to whoever goes as it will be one hell of an experience, and they should consider getting a Priority Pass before going to make the trip a little better.

I would buy the points needed by paying some taxes on a credit card.Kris flyer can get you points at 0.65% so if you do 200,000 you have spent $1300aud then pony up the taxes to Singapore Airlines.(Westpac Kris Platinum Visa).
If you are not paying BAS this wont work.

NYCguy and QF009 both wouldn't fly in cattle class (even if it was free) ;) but if they did, I am sure they'd have lots to talk about to make the time fly by eg. men, fashion, men, beauty products, men etc. ;)

samh004 would be the ultimate blogging machine, so that's a good choice too.

(as much as I'd like to nominate myself for this seemingly interesting RTW, i am a definite scratchy as I have already locked in 12 weeks of annual leave for year 2010 and won't have anything left)

Obviously QF009 was a joke nomination - I had heart murmurs.... :)

anat0l would be my first nomination, and anyone else who has put some effort into at least finding some fares...

Mr!

If the timing is near the end of October, that would scratch me on account of SMD2. :(

Otherwise, wouldn't mind giving it a go.

PER-KUL $194 dep. 17 October 2010 (Air Asia)

I thought I could take this a step further, but Tiger bless their hearts, turned a $120 PER_KUL combi into a total of $232.

And as for Mr V Australia, I could find some US505 fares lax-mel in Sept but nothing in Oct.

I'd be happy to go if there was a wine-tasting at each stop. It might provide sponsorship and help ease the pain of economy travel. A stop in AKL would even help them reduce the sauvignon blanc 'wine lake'. However, for me it would have to be after October 7.............when/if I get back from a trip to Ireland.

Mr!

Yes I was attempting humour as we all know neither of them would even consider LCC Y class even if it was free.

Try looking at them as seperate legs PER-SIN then SIN-KUL is chaper than the flight combo

You've still got some leeway there - can you get a PER-SIN or SIN-PER flight, perhaps on Tiger (if cheap enough)?

If so, and if it's better on SIN-PER, then you should be able to get the China Airlines flight to SIN (instead of KUL) at no extra cost.

PER-SIN is $199 AUD and SIN-PER is $198 SGD on the dates in question, on Jetstar, so overall should be able to route through SIN for the same price as going through KUL. Tiger is a bit cheaper.

I had the 12th of Oct (I think, its all in the spreadsheet a few pages back) and that Wasn't too bad for the PER-SIN leg on TR

Josh:p

I'm 6'5" so will volunteer - perhaps we also need someone 5'6" as a comparison of seating comfort. ....

I have just finished reading through this thread and ... wow! If I wasn't already going o/s on friday I would seriously consider it. I may try for something similar next year. btw, I thought I saw one itinerary that had a KUL-SIN leg or vv - the cost of a bus between the two is minimal, doesn't take that long, and is actually quite comfortable. Leg room is certainly better. Plus both SIN and KUL have cheap public transport between airport and city bus terminal. (Yes, I've done it). and I think for a comfort comparison there should be someone even shorter - I am 160cm :p

Whatever we do we'd better hurry! I already could not find the MEL-KUL fare at $149 AUD.... (it's now $199).

I'd volunteer if it's anytime after July. I'm 5'7" so should not suffer as much as some of you. ;)
