Are you a "Plane Nerd"?

Think I score an 8.

Definitely know which aircraft I prefer (give me Boeing any day of the week!)

Guilty

Except for living under the flight path bit

As much as I like planes I certainly wouldn't want to be living underneath the airspace through which they fly.

Otherwise, quite a spot-on article - really describes a lot of real life plane nerds I know! We all have our passions :)

Im more a airline seat nerd than a plane nerd but yeah, scored a 7

A lot of planes go over our place arriving/departing Sydney, although usually in the range of 3-6,000 feet, but doesn't worry me. Never done a SIM, but mastered MS Flight back in the day landing my 747 in ORD :) Love the A350, don't mind the 777, but yet to enter a 787. Took an Embraer flight HEL-WAW a few weeks back which was very smooth, although interesting with 1 row of J. Yeah, think I might just about qualify!!

Guilty.... and not surprised. 12 for me. Not a fan of Aircrash Investigations and couldn’t actually land a plane. When I used to travel to Sydney more often, I stayed in Mascot and the apartment block had a roof top deck... perfect for watching departures while having some dinner.

Guilty aswell with a score of 11. 12 if you count working 12-14 hours a day at an airport as living under a flight path :)
I love Aircraft Investigations but my wife refuses to watch it as she is a terrible enough flyer as it is

Yep, I got a 10. Ah well, it was no surprise. I agree with the above comment from Denali though, I'm less of a plane nerd and more of a seat nerd.

Haven't read the article but seems as good a place as any to say that a few occasions FA's have asked if I'm an aero-sexual and it makes me cringe so bad... I don't know who describes themselves as that but no thanks!

I dont think I can look that up on a work computer but does it involve Joseph Fiennes?

There's nothing I can safely link to here, but it varies from someone in love with aviation to something more, and I can tell you it's definitely not something more for me, but I've been asked countless times. Must be on my profile now or something?

I got this tounge-in-cheek definition (at least I hope it is) from Urban Dictionary, and I'm wondering how much of it that the board will censor.:oops:

A person having an avid love and sexual desire of aircraft beyond the average persons interest. They openly admit their love of aviation and all things air-related. They are often found prowling the fences of nearby airports, but it is becoming increasingly common seeing these people travel far and wide across countries to witness the act of airplanes landing and taking off. If you encounter these predators, take care not to make direct eye contact or obstruct their line of sight to the airport, as they may become agitated and/or aggressive in nature. They often travel in packs of 2 or more. They sometimes carry binoculars and more often than not high quality camera's. They inhabit the online world of airliners.net and can easily be identified in public by their compulsive urge to check flightradar24 and live ATC at least every 20 minutes and can be heard quizzing each other about air related trivia and such. More often than not these people are sad individuals, which do not have girlfriends or lives. The condition is a direct result of not being breastfed as children.

There was also a much tamer definition that was basically, you are an av-geek. But most of it implied a real sexual fetishism.

ETA: that's not MY apostrophe up there. :p

Only 8 for me at stretch but I love flying and don't need to know every single detail.

Well, most of you score higher than me, although I can definitely cover item #14.

Well, if you can't then we're all in trouble. :D

I would've thought an aero-sexual is like the aviation equivalent of a train spotter?
