Hoarding points....no I do not have that medical problem.

There is no prize for the biggest hoarder!

I tend to save for particular flights rather than just hoard.

EG. JFK-MEL in F for two and HKG-NRT in J for two.

Back on topic: The noted web site comparing cards isn't bad but getting a $200 voucher from JQ is not my idea of a good reward.

The problem with the website is it is trying to reduce awards down to a monetary value. So the jetstar voucher is going to look great in those terms. I guess you have to do this for people who don't really know where value can be found. So for someone who does understand the value to be unlocked by a JASA, versus 20 JQ flights, the site isn't much use.

A difficult task and they've done an ok job for the layperson.

I found the mortgage extra payment calculator to be good as it allows lump sum payment calculations unlike some bank calculators.

Well I am almost an addict...but not quite as I will not do anything for points.

However I am certainly always on the look out for points....and in some way treat it as a part-time job as well as a fun hobby!!! In any point acquisition I always do a quick mental benefit/cost ($$ and time) though.

I don't however pursue any points. For example with Woolworths Everyday Rewards some point bonus offers are worth getting, but many to me are not as the items involved I do not want, and the marginal points gained do not offset the expenditure (and/or time).

However my obsession is not just on points earning of course, but is also very much on the best way to burn!!!

  • Quality and quantity....!!!

Whilst I love earning those points, I try to burn them whatever I can into real awards. These points do not earn interest, and in fact, will expire.

Also I would not go out of my way to earn the points, by paying extra.

I think the epitome of addiction is where the Dr says you might be pregnant so should consider deferring/cancelling your next int business trip and all you can think of is the status credits / points lost.
