Hi folks

Had a bit of a search around, can't seem to find anything on the site about this - but as I was going through the Lounge information on the DJ website, I noticed a little footnote around Single Entry passes:

[SUP]# [/SUP]
Single Entries are available for purchase prior to 31 December 2011, and are subject to Virgin Australia lounge
Terms and Conditions
and
Rules
, as amended from time to time.
I hadn't heard anything about the passes ending - is DJ going to membership-only access for the Lounges now?

Cheers

Perhaps canning the paid entry will leave room for the 'one lounge pass per 100SCs' benefit to be activated across all members.

All mention of single entry passes has now disappeared from the Lounge website (the only mention of passes now is for 'additional guests' of members - $65 at reception, no mention of prepurchase online).

But I logged in using my wife's Velocity account (red status, non lounge member) and still get presented with an option to buy passes for her account at $55.

So either this is an 'undocumented benefit', or someone at DJ has forgotten to flick the switch on single entry purchase.

any word on when the 100 sc complementary lounge access is starting?

I can say with some certainty that this is correct based on what i was told from the virgin staff at the lounge this weekend.

however, what i am wondering is will this mean no more single entry passs for Velocity Silver members each year?

I looked on the website the other day - I thought it said that online passes were available for purchase up to 31 Dec, and at the lounge passes for non members until 31 Jan (or the other way around).

I can understand why they did it, to make more room for the prem's, but I would have thought moving it from $30 to $55 would have taken care of that to an extent. Bit of a bummer - I don't fly enough to make lounge membership worth it (and therefore by association, not enough points to have a higher status to make it cheaper, either) but I did enjoy going to the lounge. Good thing I've still got one left for my trip to BNE in a few weeks :)

I didn't realise the silver member ones expired after 3months either.

The missus was quite miffed that she had no passes at the airport when a week earlier she had 2

Out of interest and slightly off my original topic - if you purchase Lounge membership, I assume you can use your existing Velocity membership card to gain access until your VA Lounge card arrives - is that right? (Except partner lounges)

A couple of years ago now for me but I just used the Velocity card, never got a new card!

I think they are the same card.

It seems you can still redeem points or point+pay but again it says only until January 31st, after which "Lounge casual visit passes will not be available after this time" so yeah, looks pretty final.

On a related note, I recently made silver (with gold in the near future, fingers crossed) and got my 2 free passes. Being a Lounge member already I don't really have much need for these, does anyone know if you can give these to your wife/husband/etc? My wife will be doing a few trips solo in the next month with some unfortunately long stopovers in Brisbane, would be fantastic if I could make use of them that way. Though I suspect the answer lies between the letters B/M and I/P...

I noticed this in an email from Velocity this afternoon:

Confirmed, pay at the door is gone.

The 3 month expiry is a bit steep... I can't understand why they didn't just make it 12 months?

Agreed. Mine expired early December. I passed through the airport on several occasions (always flying DJ) but never had the time to put them to use. It's a shame they went to waste.
