Are CX and EK award seats made first available to QFF members at 355 days out?

Is this the earliest you can possibly book them? Are they loaded at 11am each day?

Can you place a reservation on hold?

Thanks

I don't think it's 11am and you definitely can't put an award reservation on hold with QF (whereas you can, without any penalty, with AA).

In my experience I have been able to put an award on hold with QF for 24 hours twice. I realise that this is not common and certainly not their policy. Maybe it depends on the operator if you ask nicely?

Wow. I've never heard of that.

I've only had QF agent hold an award booking once, but only because a points transfer didn't to through and they had to do it manually.

Others have commented re the hold and I have no experience of it.

355 (+/- 1 day) seems to be what I have found with CX when booking through QFF.

CX actually release their flights 360 days ahead, not 355. Don't know about EK.
On the QF website when you start your search and enter the cities the latest date you can select is 353 days out but if you tick "flexible with dates" when you go to the next screen you will see dates for up to an additional 7 days. If you select any of those 7 days and click on "continue" you will see the CX availability although it's of limited use because it is by no means a comprehensive list of what actually is available on CX and usually what you get shown are indirect routes that can greatly extend your travel time. One obvious example is that if you search for LAX - MEL flights QF will usually give you a CX option of flying via HKG which turns it into about a 32 hr trip!

On routes that CX flies but QF doesn't, you will be shown the direct flights available on CX.

QF lists the newly released flights at midnight UTC time which in terms of our time will depend on daylight saving, but ATM it's supposed to be 10.00am EDST. My experience is that they actually appear on QF's website between 10.15 and 10.20am each morning.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Update:
For the past week newly released flights have appeared online at QF at about 10.15am but just to prove me wrong they came online at 10.02am this morning. :p
A couple of people in the past have suggested that flights might be bookable via the call centre up to 24 hrs earlier than their official release but whenever I've called them they have not been able to see anything - but I'm not WP, so I don't know if what can be "seen" for them is better than for the plebs.

FWIW as WP I've tried this a week ago for a QF award booking LHR-SYD and wanted LHR-SYD-BNE. No go as the agent couldn't see the SYD-BNE flight....told me to call back in two days.

Yep - 'tis midnight UTC or 10am in BNE and 353 days.

In the past I have been able to grab awards by ringing early in the morning prior to that time, but for some years this has not been possible for me to do. (FWIW, E/F with a ±3 days at the limit used to show availability at 354 and 355 days - just not bookable.)

So you would have been able to book LHR - SYD earlier than official release time would you Amaroo?

No. The LHR-SYD was booked on day of release.....I'd been tracking the releases for a couple of weeks so I knew when they popped up and more importantly - what day of the week they released the precious "P". The SYD-BNE hand't opened as it was two days ahead due to flight time/time zone. The agent thought she could book it and went to a supervisor.....but the answer was no, come back in two days for the SYD-BNE or leave the whole booking for two days and hope someone doesn't grab the P x 2 LHR-SYD. Guess which option I took ;)
