)I would argue the iPhone is anything but a toy. I play two to three games in total on mine (all of which are just simple card games) and I use a heap of apps. From monitoring systems in the office, to checking travel itineraries, accessing systems at work, iCloud syncing of my calendars between my laptop and phone, emails (I'm in a 24x7 job and need to be able to respond to suppliers and vendors at all times, often involving XLS and PDF files), and interacting with suppliers via VPN applications, my phone is far more work centric than a game device.
Put the device into the hands of a businessman and it's a powerful business tool. Put it in the hands of a non-business person, and it can be a social media tool, or a games device, or an SMS hub etc etc. It's limited by its required use rather being designed for any specific purpose. Its limitations are only what Apps are available for it.
Actually, the Lumia was announced the other day: Nokia announces Lumia 820, a 4.3-inch, LTE-running, budget-friendly Windows Phone 8 handset -- Engadget and will be here by end of year (demo units were shown).As a former CIO who replaced Blackberries with iPhone I'd have to suggest you're talking rubbish!
Microsoft has had a few goes at phones and tablets and the Nokia Lumina is vapor ware with no release date or price announced.
I'd suggest any CIO using your logic is more a techno weenie back room boffin than a CIO

Strange. From a news. Com. Au review...
Surprisingly, benchmarking tests support this claim. The Geekbench app placed this iPhone 5 handset just below the Samsung Galaxy S III's benchmark even though that phone has a quad-core processor to this phone's dual-core model. Touche.

My Cygnett iPhone 5 case just arrived. It looks the right size and shape, so they must have been advised of the blueprint prior to launch.
I guess we shall wait and see on Friday when the phone arrives!

Anecdote 1. I have had Nokias for many years (mid 90's was my first). I usually keep a phone for a couple of years then update. My last Nokia was 15 months old when I wanted to update the O/S. Tried over the air, no go. Tried installing Nokia Suite on my Mac, no go. Went into a NokiaCare store, "That will be $30 thanks as it is out of warranty"! They lost a near 20 year long customer that day as I bought an iPhone 4S.
Anecdote 2. I had my iPhone for a few days and was unable to pair with my car's bluetooth. Not sure if it was my car or the phone, so I went into the Apple Genius Bar to ask about it. 5 minutes later I had a new phone: "We are not sure if the fault is with your car or the phone so here is a new one anyway just incase".
The various phones on the market today all have their advantages, but it is the customer service (and lack of it from Nokia) that sold me.

Manufacturers had no plans prior to launch, and they based it on leaked info. This happened with the 4S when people assumed the '5' was coming out. Manufacturers released cases based on leaked (false, we now know) information.
The specifications and measurements are now available for all, but they have only been released after the announcement.

Except the benchmarking does not support that claim. Although the article claims the iPhone 5 gets a higher score that does not seem to be the case. A different article claims the S3 is faster iPhone 5 benchmarks: Slower than the Galaxy S3, faster than the Nexus 7 | ExtremeTech
And if you browse the results from the Geekbench website then the S3 tends to score in the low 1600s. While the s3 scores average about 1800. The S3 doing much better with CPU performance, while the iPhone 5 doing much better with memory performance.

I'm yet to have found a fanboi [tm] that's been going on and on about the headphone jack being on the bottom.
(I will admit I do not use an Android handset nor any Samsung branded devices) but there's a good reason people stay with one platform. The App Ecosystem. If you've invested a lot of cash into one App store (be it Android or Mac), you're not going to easily sway and jump ship.
And let's face it, Apple devices are typically very pretty, regardless if you like their functionality or not, they are pretty

No one. They're not available until tomorrow morning (unless of course there was a shipping issue; happens sometimes and people may receive things a day or two early).
There are some out there - for example some Journalists have been given them to play with. And I'm sure the iGeeks have been salivating over them in the back office after work.

Journos I believe were given 'hands on' time, but that's all. There was an embargo on reporting of it, but the units were just for evaluation, not for them to keep.
