Apple Airtags

If you're not an Apple user like me, there is an alternative for Android users. I have just bought 2 GEGO GPS trackers from this American company's website. Cost in AUD was 290 approx including delivery. Obviously selling lots of them since they won't ship the new batch until August 25. These work on the 4G network. I bought the first iteration of the GEGO - the Lugloc tracker some years ago for travel and it worked really well wherever we were. The Luglocs are now out of date since they relied on the 3G networks. The GEGO tracker requires either a monthly or yearly subscription for use. I think they're a bit pricey but what is the cost of the inconvenience of lost luggage that no-one appears to be able to find. Why You Need to Buy GEGO Tracker | Always Locate What You Love | GEGO. May be worth a look.

Many phone users myself included only turnbletooth on when using a Bluetooth device i.e. pairing headphones or actively tracking a tile. Turning off bluetooth (a simple one tap on an android) massively extends battery life and should always been the owners choice (as should whether aps are running) not big brother phone manufacturer.

The extra distance and volume of the Tile comes into its own when searching through a pile of bags 9r have left a bag in a remote area where fewer people about.

Some members have noted purchasing Air Tags through the QFF store. Are they still available through the QFF store? I can not find them. The only mention of Air Tag at the QFF Rewards store I can find is for a leather keyring holder.

Does anyone know of a better deal than the 4-pack for $149 from Apple on-line store?

When I googled AirTag and went into Qantas Store that way, they showed up with the note “temporarily out of stock”. I haven’t seem them cheaper anywhere.

I guess an option is to purchase the Apple Digital Gift Card from the QFF Rewards Store, then use that to purchase the Air Tags from Apple.

$100 + $50 Apple Digital Gift Cards would be 17,390 + 8.720 = 26,111 QFF points, and should earn 2 x 149 QFF points for the Apple transaction.

I used points for purchase back in April. They showed as available. They were never sent so points refunded.

Maybe that is when they flagged them as "out of stock". Looks like the digital gift card may work as a solution to buy with QFF points.

It's rare to see Apple products discounted. Officeworks often has a small discount on iPhones and iPads but they don't appear to stock AirTags - strange.

I believe OfficeWorks (and some other retailers) stopped stocking Air Tags because of the type of batteries used, even though the Air Tags comply with all current Australian standards for the design of such products, and they stock other items that use similar batteries.

I only purchased mine through Qantas on Monday. The receipt was emailed the next day and I also received a delivery tracking email on Tuesday.

I clicked the apple icon through from Qantas shopping and paid with Amex Explorer, so 288 QF points from Qantas Shop and 144 KF points from Amex.

So was that purchase directly from the QF Rewards Store? Or from Apple.com/au after clicking through from Qantas FF to obtain the Qantas Shopping points at 2 points/$?

The latter. That way I could order engraving and still get points.

ok, thanks. So nobody has actually purchased them directly from the Qantas Rewards store for several months. If buying the Apple Digital Giftcard from the Qantas Rewards Store, the option for engraving and earning Qantas FF points through Qantas Shopping should all be available.

I went into the Qantas Store and after selecting AirTag was transferred to the Apple Store. A direct link, so the QF points I feel sure will follow. This happened last time I purchased something: redirected to supplier's website. Of course, I won't know for sure until the points hit (or not) my account or arrive as added bonus on my credit card statement. I will know in a couple of weeks.
