That sort of cross checking might interfare with privacy laws or, god forbid, Sales.

Note the get out clause in the majority of such unsolicited mail is that all applications are still "subject to further credit approval".
It is good having get out clauses.

I remember now when I rang ANZ to discuss why I was refused credit and then I asked to be taken off their mailing list they said they could not do it as they buy their mailing lists from a third party. I forget the name of the company but we have discussed here on AFF before. They have a database which they sell to anyone who is interested, mainly banks.

I don't mind anyway. ANZ letters are opened, scanned quickly and then filed away.

This is my combination:

AMEX Rewards Maximiser on all items

Where AMEX not accepted or surcharged, I have the ANZ Frequent Flyer Card.

I'm similiar. AMEX Rewards Maximiser for all transactions above $10 where accepted.

Where AMEX is not accepted I use the Ezy Mastercard. But as they too slowly erode the rewards program I will seek out another alternative.

Currently I have the option of a free Visa Card with automatic enrollment in the National Rewards program with a finanical institution I have dealings with. Will conisder this as an option once I see how much spend goes through my Mastercard and how Ezy changes their program in the near future.

I was not aware of banks that charged a 1% service fee for BPAY. Which banks do this? CBA doesn't.

Sorry guys, in my haste, I did not fully explain.

This is in relation to using my ANZ FF CC when faced with either paying by AMEX or not.

This was prompted when I tried to pay my Gas bill via Amex and they wanted 1% CC charge, whereas I paid through ANZ with no charge.

This is in context to this thread.

Hope this is clearer.

it was a good card until they put a cap on the points and upped the fees. i wasted no time switching to a citybank card through my credit union.
