If you miss the experience, you should fly down to Tasmania. Then you can relive the experience in all it's glory :)
Experience also available at most airports when flying on smaller aircraft. For example, all Dash-8 services from BNE involve the Tarmac Tour (not sure if the -400 will use the jet-bridge? - can it get down that low?)

SYD as well (ex T3, the infamous Gate 15) (Should be called "Stairwell 15")

At least that isnt as bad as non-Schengen bus gates at VIE. Non-schengen is the upper floor so drop down 3 levels by stair to get to the bus out to the a/c.

Will be great when the airport finally opens. The domestic terminal is on it's last legs.
Tasmania is off the cards for this year. Too cold for me from now till mid-summer.

I hope the new airport is functioning when I am here again next month. If not then I may see it in June.

Surprise surprise yesterday when I went to the old terminal for flight ADL-PLO-ADL. The time was 15:15 with flight departing 15:45, plenty of time I thought. Wrong.

The lady at the counter smiled and said that Qantas link flights are already using the new terminal. Huh. But my flight is in 30 minutes and no one warned me. She rang the check-in desk at the new terminal to tell them I was on my way over and I walked/ran over there to make the 15:30 boarding time which was delayed by about 10 minutes. Had gate 50 which is at the far end of the terminal. Airport staff outnumbered passengers by about 3:1.

Had a little time to look around before flight and after arriving back in the evening. Looks very good but small compared to SYD, MEL and BNE. The building is basic in design and I don't think it is possible to get lost in there as you could almost see from one end to the other. Not sure how many shops are there as a lot of entrances are still covered. Did notice the QC lounge and most QC members would be happy to know that on the outside it looks like any other QC lounge so you would feel at home. Apparently there are now also less check-in desks than was avaialable before.

I might be one of the first AFF'ers to use the new ADL terminal. Nice to look at once but left no lasting impression. Maybe after it officially opens on Friday.....

Did you have a look in the QP when you returned through...?

I spoke with QF today, and tomorrow (Friday) is the day, barring any last minute changes (this was stressed, so the move date could still be in flux).

I am still thinking about coming down on Saturday to have a look around it anyone is interested in catching up...

QP was/is closed until Friday.

I am only PS with no QP access.

I've got a flight ADL-SYD Friday night, so I might get to see something new!!!!

Was thinking about it, but the opening is still very much in the air as to whether it will happen or not on Friday. Not going to book any tickets just yet, and by tomorrow night when i do know, it will be too late.

Early March I'll try and head over as long as I can find a free day on a weekend.

Well tonight on the late news on TEN they showed both QF and DJ moving from the old terminal to the new one. They made the comment '4 months late'!

Well I am not thinking that I will do the following on Saturday:

SYD-O7-MEL-QF-ADL-QF-SYD

Best of both worlds! Plus I get to see the new Terminal and QP.

I am transitting there again Sunday 12th March between 11:00 and 12:30. If you happen to be around maybe we can catch up for a drink or two and discuss coincidences. :)

I'll be there this Tuesday Evening. If it's open I'll give a quick report on it here. Maybe with some images.

From the Adelaide Aiport website there is a link to arrivals and departure information.

Looking at this and comparing with the webcam, at this time the A333 for QF81 can be seen in the distance. It is at gate 18 awaiting its departure for DRW & SIN.

From this I can gather that the Webcam is mounted over gate 26 and the closest gate you can see is gate 25. QF are using gates 18 thru 25, JQ uses G25 as well. DJ appear have access to G12-G16. Looking at the Terminal Map, the QP entrance is located in the middle of the QF gates, behind Gate 21.

serfty, you might want to change the link in your post from aal.com to aal.com.au.

The one you posted gets redirected to thrivent.com, "Thrivent Financial for Lutherans"!

There are many Lutherans in the Barossa Valley and Fleurieu Peninsula! They own many of the wineries maybe they have a controlling stake in ADL's new airport.

Indeed - there are some really nice old churches in the SA wine regions. If you ever get a chance, visit the Henschke Hill of Grace vineyard. It is a sole vineyard directly opposite a small old Lutheran church. For wine lovers it is a bit of a mecca. :D
