Anyone having problems with the NEW seat selection?

Just went through half an hour trying to change seats on an upcoming MEL-PER QF9 J booking. Initially, as is very frequent these days, the entire MMB part of the QF website didn't work. But eventually got in and on third attempt it actually let me change seats. Now 1A on my first ever QF 787 flight - woohoo!! :)

It seems like it would have been quicker and easier to phone the P1 line and get the agent to do it for you.

Nah, I am off them (for a few days). This ticket BNE-MEL-PER was not available to me as an award redemption on the website, so I flicked an email to the P1 team to see if they could get the seat released - they very politely explained I would have to actually phone the Prem Reservations to do this, as they can't get seats released. (I did actually know that, but was lazy) So I did that, and with 24 hrs they (Prem Res) contacted me and released the QF9 seat - all good :)

Booked a flight a couple of weeks ago and came across the new seat selection. It displayed the seat map and that was about it as the seat map disappeared after I tried selecting a seat.

Awful. IT is not that difficult.
 
Can't seem to login or manage my booking on the QF website at the moment? Is everyone else having trouble managing their book?

What a great time to have your IT systems go down - right before one of the busiest weekends of the year. Well done QF IT ! :)
 
Getting the seat to stick has happened here, too, a few times. This time I had two separate bookings (mine and a family member who's a bronze). The day before seats at the front of Y were available so I wanted to move us forward in the cabin. Carefully synchronising the steps on a laptop browser for the family member and phone app for myself, I selected the seats. All good, except that his didn't stick and he, in fact, also lost the previous allocation (i.e. the web interface showed him with no seat selected at all). To top it off, the seat availability had released our previous seats and made the new seats unavailable. No new attempt would fix this. :confused:

It seems the Android app works better than their website, for some reason. On the morning of the flight I managed to get new seats side by side using the app. Running around in circles for something that worked pretty well earlier...
 
I'm finding the seat selection quite frustrating.

But QF is not alone. This past week and while overseas I've had problems with EK seats, VA frequent flyer details, SQ seats, SQ frequent flyer details, SQ meal selections and DL seats. SQ required a call to (hopefully) fix. The others seem to now be OK. No status with DL and flying Y so not surprised.
 
I couldn't seat select for last Sat POM-BNE, but I assumed it was because it was booked via our in-house travel team so I rang QF (in POM) to
a) link +1's booking to mine; and
b) hopefully select a good seat for us both.

The best I could do as a QF WP was row 22 on a 737! :eek:
Next day phone QF SYD and managed row 19 but told no guarantee it will stick as +1 was not status and should pay (wasn't asked to pay however). :rolleyes:
Got to the airport and was moved by the PNG check-in guy to row 5D and F with a shadow between us! :) +1 commented on how professional he was and how easy it was.

Went in to seat select my next week flight and found this map! I think I'm on a 737 but who knows, but I'm happy to have 1F, all on its own with an aisle! ;)

Qantas work experience kids strike again, it's currently school holidays in some states.
 
I can’t get row 4 to stick on a 737 for myself (travelling with an infant). Other passengers on the booking stay but I don’t. It’s not an exit row and I know I’ve sat in row 4 with an infant before so don’t know what the problem is.

It's the chance of getting the seatbelts with the airbag. Infants cannot sit there.
 
I apologise for being so dumb! But I can't seem to figure out how to change seats for my husband and myself on a booking. We have assigned seats and I'd like to change them. I'm totally bemused by the new way to do this. Why oh why do they have to change things?

Please could someone explain to me step by step how to do this. Thanks so much.
 
I forgot to say I have tried everything I can using the App and on my laptop, I can’t seem to get anything to happen. Very strange, can anyone offer a suggestion.

I couldn't seat select recently either, but I assumed it was because it was a TA booking. In the past, I have noticed most direct bookings can have seat selection but then the very occasional one can not. No idea why not.
 
Really bizarre behaviour at the moment. Trying to select seats for me and mrsOpusman. Pick seats, click confirm, "an error occurred with the special request". Go back to seat maps, the seats I just picked are no longer available but we still have no seat assignments.

I seem to be able to repeat this as many times as I like, eventually making the whole plane unavailable for selection.

Don't complain too loudly! I think most people call that a private jet! :) ;)
 
Can I say again how much I HATE the new QF seat selection interface!!!!

Its so clumsy. Can we please go back to the previous version!

Every time I use it I feel like a blind monkey with no arms trying to shoelaces.
 
I now select seats with the App. Hate it but it does at least stick.
