Anyone got the inside word - domestic upgrades (Virgin Blue)

Is it true that lounge staff will soon be trained (1-2 months) to enable upgrades to Premium Economony (presumably for cash) on domestic flights

Seems like a lot of the PE section is empty on flights - Seems a shame to let those seats go begging.

At full price I really do not think they are a good product - the seats have more legroom sure, but at a huge price increase

However if one came available at a cheap rate it might actually be worthwhile

Can anyone confirm?

Depending on cost in $ or points this could be good.

Considering that a person in the lounge will:
a/ not be interested in a flexi ticket
b/ does not need lounge access
c/ does not need extra baggage allowance

What a person in the lounge would benefit from is:
a/ front row seating
b/ extra width (2x2)
c/ Free food
d/ Free TV

Will be interesting to see if this is true.

Oh I forgot to add the info came from a staff member in the lounge when we asked about whether they upgrade (we keep asking just in case)

So its not terribly reliable, but it is promising!

I would imagine even if this were to happen the SC's would stay on the current formula (i.e. still be based on the fare you paid)!
