Anyone’s Forever Gold balance go backwards?

Hi Team

Post the 1 October go live of Forever Gold, has anyone else’s balance gone backwards?

By my calculations I should have 9820 but the app is now showing 9631, a negative variance of 189. Under the new regime that negative variance is $2268 worth of flights.

Would appreciate any insights if anyone else has seen this occur?

Yes 115 of the Virgin-flown SCs are gone and the original number was understated anyway

Isn’t there a start date for the FG count of SC‘s? Around 2011? Maybe it’s subtracting flights before then?

I don’t know how you’re calculating what you think your balance should be as there hasn’t really been enough info from VFF. Start date yes, and notes that SCs pooled from someone else don’t count. But then there are SCs pooled out (earned by the member) which also don’t seem to count and so don’t count for lifetime status for anyone. SC gifts during covid? Bonus SCs earnt through promos?

I tried to go back through my VFF statements and transactions and thought I might have about 6000 qualifying but that was apparently optimistic.
(plus too many earnt from SQ, NZ and EY… oh well)

I’ll have to start noting down what my VFF account says my total is as I’m not sure if it has changed. Guess I’m not close enough to have taken a serious interest in the figure before yesterday.

I’m not calculating anything, I’m referring to what the website said on 30 Sep to 1 October. I completely agree that the pre 30 Sep number isn’t entirely accurate but had gotten to terms in that “it is what it is.” But it should never reduce. Of course the IT team released a new website between 30 Sep and 1 Oct, and now my FG is less than Forever…

Given they started publishing the information earlier this year it’s just strange it’s gone down. If they published for the first time on 1 October I could understand more but it’s frustrating to see it go negative.

My requirement as shown on the app is lower than I had expected.

I received my activity from Velocity and managed an exact reconciliation as at the end of March. I was close to 11K overall but needed a further 3.5K on VA.

Taking that baseline and my subsequent 700SC of VA flights since into account, I would expect it to show a VA total of 6.2K requiring another 2.8K, but the APP is just a further 2.3K.

... still a bridge too far ...

I think I am in the same boat here. LTG is so far away I am not paying that much attention!

Yes, my forever gold tally is lower after oct 1…. Not sure why it changed

My balance has changed and gone backwards, and I know why.

Initially the balance said something like “5800 status credits required, of which 6034 need to be from your own VA marketed and operated flights”. So too many of my SC’s have been earned through family pooling, Flybuys etc.

Now my Forever Gold balance says “5966 of 12,000 SC’s earned: You still need 6034 (all of which must be from your VA marketed and/or operated flights”.

So the figure now is more accurate and reflects how many SC’s I need to earn from my own flying on VA.

I have pooled coughloads of SC over the years to family, if they were fair these would all go back to mw as i earnt them BIS. mostly domestic. The thing is they are lost, family dont get them, I dont get them, VA are taking the piss. I believe if they are going down the “ must be your BIS domestic miles” then the domestic SC earn should go towards the earners lifetime tally. I am ok that the beneficiary doest get them in their tally, thats fine, but why does the actual earner not recieve them back. I have kept my wife at gold or platinum for the last 15 years through family pooling and all those sc are just wated. Move the goalposts, obviously they have done the sums and im guessing quite a few are in the same boat so they have just decided we didnt spend all that money with them so it vanishes. At my busiest time i did 132 donestic sectors with VA in my membership year. This year zero. Just dump family pooling altogether because it really is essentially useless now with their new system. Crazy stuff. Still amazes me that they can screw with their hard earned customer base andexpect us to just bend over and take it. Its like they have looked at every way to piss off loyal customers and make loyalty near impossible. I accept 99% ofmpax dont know or care, judt looking at velocity points, but for those of us that do and have been loyal since the beginning, the kick in the nuts is offensive.
