Hi all, i want to go home on Monday and, i realise i have left it a little late but why are thgey so expensive? As most of you know i am a loyal DJer but they are around $500 for ADL-HBA and even Tiger are $250 (quite frankly i would rather pay twice as much and fly DJ) QF are as usual a little more expensive at $600 but still in the running...

Any reason why? School holidays? Im racking my brain to work out why but cant...

It doesnt bother me - aside from the ludricous outlay - about price as it will help me in my status chase but man it hurts!

School holidays always tends to drive prices skywards.

As they say, it's all ruled by supply & demand, and the airlines use these times to help boost profits so they can ride out the less profitable parts of the year.

your a member of frequentflyer.com.au and don't know that school holidays drive prices sky-high??

hehe, fair enough :)

BTW, I dont think Virgin is worth the $500 compared to Tigers $250, why not just take Tiger?

There's no amount of money that makes Tiger worth flying!:mrgreen:

I guess you haven't flown them then.

FA's much more professional than the rabble on DJ.

Irrefutable logic as I see it :!:

So you'd pay an extra $250 out of your own pocket to fly DJ over TT on a short flight?

Wow, no wonder the country's in trouble. Sol was right, you know...

Correct Serfty, I'm 5000 sc's Away from silver so basically it'll make sure I get it this month instead next. As a loyal DJer yes I would pay quite happily to get on there - aside from that I will avoid Tiger more than JQ as I actually need to get there around the time first printed on the ticket....

Having said that the update is I found a tues lunchtime flight that was only $360 - slightly above normal but with school holidays it was reasonable I guess.... Just means that I now have to shift my appointments back a day but thems the brakes.

Depending upon whether I needed to guarantee being there or not. The other alternate for a short flight is that I would drive.

Sol was here having a big holiday at our expense whilst Telstra service went from bad to diabolical :!:

Exactly... And I need to be there and driving wasn't an option but still considered...

Doesn't seem like it, given Telstra was rarely, if ever, the cheapest. His model was quite opposed to Tiger and its low cost ilk...

How would you drive ADL- > HBA? Do you have a DUKW?

The thing re the school holidays is that if you arent a teacher/married to one and don't have kids of school age - you don't always connect particular dates with school holidays and not all school holidays take place at the same time...

What is a DUKW?

But you're right - scary thing is my like revolves around school holidays for work and my daughter goes to kinder! But then again she isn't on holidays and Tassie is different to the rest of the country.
