Im in 2 minds at the moment whether or not to book flights to SEA at Christmas now, or wait till closer to December when prices may drop. The flights will be in Y at the best rates available except on JQi where Y+ is similar priced to QF / SIA / CX in Y (around $1750 return). Travel dates ATM being DEC23 MEL/BKK and Jan 5 or 6 BKK/SYD

Anyone want to glance in their crystal ball?

Hey mate,

If the cash rate is ~$1750 why not use some of your points and book a classic award? It seems like a lot of money to me, and by using points even after the tax component, you still get a reasonably good cost per point rate (say at least $0.02/point). If there is no awards available, I am sure the Platinum desk can 'open' a couple for you.

Alan.
