Having lost my Gold status at Virgin I spotted the article on the front page of the site today which mentioned Diner's Club as a way to gain lounge access.

I've checked up the list of lounges and it seems pretty good (more than 850 at present?). I have no interest in claiming rewards as I am all in with Virgin right now. Anyway, $150 seems a good deal for what you get. Any downsides I should be aware of before I sign up?

I don't think I've used any of the lounges listed in the app - are they substandard or the same kind of thing as Virgin, Qantas etc? To be fair, Virgin's lounges aren't anything to write home about but it's nice to have access to a lounge.

I travel overseas on holiday 3 or 4 times a year, and domestically probably about the same or more, so would make good use.

I used to have a corporate DC when I discovered the lounges. I now have my own and can’t fault it. not being tied to one airline is a bonus, I used so many lounges in many countries inc AU. they can vary in quality . Plus I use DC at Qantas, Hotels.com, Woolies, Coles, Bunnings Kmart etc. no tap but swipe and $1 a point.
for $155 a year it works for me

I've also had my DC for many years and have enjoyed using lounges all over the world for free. Recently accessed Rex lounge in Adelaide. Guest pays only about $US35, though I only see guest value in overseas lounges. I also use it regularly at Woolies, Coles, Foodland and hotels. Can be used at other outlets with the usual surcharge - e.g.Telstra. I transfer point to my Velocity account.
